You lot are just getting tui good at this wisecrack park. Think I shall quit whilst I am behind lol. TBA is actually to be advised rather than confirmed. It is TBC that is to be confirmed or in TUI's case To be cancelled. Can't keep a good man down for long lol

Tui exeter 2020 summer 2020 from exeter looks rur same as 2019. The tenerife flight still says ops by norweigan , but their shutting their base down their. The faro flight seems to be exeter based 06.05 dept not a cardiff based flight w. Zakinthos\ zante the same place and heraklon crete return but i cant find the antalaya turkey flight yet.so maybe droped or not out yet. The las palmas flight is only ops in oct..cant see any new routes from exeter with tui in 2020 as the based jet is fully used..

A quick look at the departure board for today - no departures between 0600 and 0620 (AMS at 0620). Could fit a nice cheeky PMI or IBZ in there.

There is then 3 between 0625 and 0635 all Ryanair.
4 between 0645 and 0700, 3 to Jet2 and 1 to eastern.

From 0700 to 0800 today there is nothing. They could have 12 based aircraft with one departing every 5 minutes if they so desired.

Nothing to do with day slots i'm afraid. More to do with the lack of ambition and any immigration from our German owned friends. Glad to see the back of them tbh.

But surely LBA as an airport needs to aspire to having all 3 of the major tour airlines based there? TUI are still a pretty big company for an airport like Leeds not to have based there.

The latest TUI news from the travel agents is that TUI aren’t focusing on Leeds becuase Jet2 have used all the day slots... for some reason that just doesn't seem true...

They are talking nonsense Louis. TUi were contracted to LBA using Sunwing. They failed to compete with Jet2 as they don't have the flexibility offered by Jet2 Holidays, and as a result their loads out of LBA were poor last summer. They fail to recognise though that part of the problem is also that people no longer trust them to either operate the holiday they offer in the first place, or deliver passengers back to LBA as scheduled. People have learned that if you want to fly out of and into LBA as you booked, want a huge range of flights to choose from, with the option of varying length of holidays, then you book with Jet2 Holidays instead.

LBA, as far as I know, isn't an Airport whose capacity is dictated by slots. There is a shortage of departure gates, hence the large number of aircraft tows Jet2 have to do in the morning. Approved Departure Times are sometimes a feature, as is the case at all airports, but that's all. Sounds like TUI making feeble excuses or talking bollocks.

hi white heather
we used tui/sunwing twice last last year to agp and the flights were all full both ways, thought we would be ok for agp flights this year but sadly no such look,so dsa for us.

No doubt some of the more popular routes were full Snowman, but overall, loads were down and Tui stated that LBA was their worst performing airport in terms of average loads. The previous winter, their TFS service was also their worst performing route, hence that being canned last winter.

TUI maybe the largest tour operator in the UK by their ATOL licence however lets be honest that is simply due to the long haul operation which is, probably in terms of seats, as large if not larger then their short haul operation. Also helped by their Cruise operations.

TUI however are no where near the size you think and just to put it into perceptive:

1. easyJet - 328 aircraft in total, 159 on the G register.
2. British Airways - 277 aircraft in total. All on the G register.
3. Jet2 - 100 aircraft in peak this summer. If not more. Not sure. Of the 100+, two will be registered elsewhere as leases. They are very much a British company.
4. TUI - 51 aircraft. If you count the 6 grounded MAX's thats 57. 24% of their fleet is 787.
5. Virgin Atlantic - 43 aircraft.
6. Thomas Cook - 34 aircraft. Rest of TC fleet is leased in.

I think Leeds doesn't really need TUI anymore. It was the 2nd largest tour operator and 3rd largest airline in the UK. It also has 2nd largest airline in Europe. All they need to do now is encourage the harped airline to expand, attract the orange to base and offer its services to the Yorkshire market, and keep encouraging the red.

Fact is TUI have failed to materialise on what Jet2 did. The regional market - they should of ordered a lot more 737-800's to expand into the regions and defend against Jet2 but didn't. And as such they are now paying for it. They've got on this "regional growth" marketing bullshit which if you are fans of the industry like us or work in the industry like myself, know its more "sh*t we need to start defending our market share against the red". Sadly they've lost some of this regional market now which is why we seen re-trenching at MAN, BHX, LGW, growth of DSA, EXT, BOH and BRS (BRS is a simple defence mechanism, it will pay for them of course, but they are defending against the Red and ultimately want to put them off).

Like i say; i'm glad to see the back of them.

I get that on the LBA that TUI do seem to be almost hated but I do feel that they are an important airline and that an airport the size of Leeds really should be able to sustain all 3 of the tour operators like other airports in the UK and similar size do. As for the reasons why it isn't well I'm sure that will be debated for a long time to come.

CFU-LBA flight has diverted to MAN, doesn’t look like it ever planned to go to LBA, straight into MAN. G-TAWB has positioned BHX-LBA to operate the outbound.

If it was 3 hours late anyway; adding travel time for the M62 (2 hours) won't play any factor in decision. If they know this - they'd probably opt to divert as they are already liable for EU261. Just watch where that aircraft goes next is all i'd say and see. The MAX's are defiantly playing around in the operations department of TUI and will continue to do so for a long period of time. What a nightmare.

PS/ Maybe if they went A321 NEO for 757 replacement and growth they wouldn't of had these issues? hehehe.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
