White Heather -- another positive post and welcome! Many UK airports are treading water these days and LBA is no different, highlighted by Ryanair's decision to cut back several routes for now, Belfast for example losing its base. The uncertainty of Brexit is not helping and the sooner it is sorted the better, also the global trade situation is worsening with recession looming in several countries. This is not a climate for airlines and other entities to go for expansion, at least for now. I think that the LBA terminal expansion when completed will help enormously, so too with the new link road and parkway station. Lets hope there are few delays to these projects, the long term future for LBA is bright.

Why would Wizz go? They keep expanding there and don't seem to be put off by Brexit, not to mention that it has a good cargo operation as well, so i'm sure it'll be fine.
Have you seen the cargo flights at Donny, some well good equipment flying into an ever expanding cargo facility there,in fact who saw the boeing 727 pass over here yest from there! 747, md11 the lot flying in and wizz are doing great. again main reason runway length.

For the cargo operations length is a bonus yes but so is the Amazon depot's nearby. As for Wizz their network is aimed at immigrant workers especially ones working in Lincolnshire.

some on here just cant handle the truth, and the truth is LBA is well under performing big style! Im well interested to see whats going on with this new terminal! its as if we are talking about some massive terminal when in fact its probably not much larger than an aldi store! JUST GET THE BLOODY THING BUILT!

Those flights at Doncaster are serving customers, not immigrants. I doubt very much anyone ever refers to me arriving on an immigrant flight when I visit the Spanish half of my family in Spain. I think airlines use the visiting friends and relatives term, but for many of the Wizz routes they also serve stag and hen/ cheap city breaks- so do have a mix.

Yes ok.......and if they don’t?.....it will be a cargo shed.
Cargo is a very important revenue stream at DSA, as are Wizz & Tui. The big shame about Flybe is that load factors the last 2 summers & last winter have been brilliant, whether that translates into good yields I couldn’t tell you, but their base loss is due to problems at the airline, not the airport.
The airport benefits also from a very good relationship with Wizz, who constantly add routes and are happy with the results, that’s why I say they aren’t leaving, I don’t really see a lot of fact in your argument, but in the uncertain & frankly difficult times that a lot of airlines find themselves in, I suppose anything is possible. As we have recently found out at LBA, nothing can be taken for granted.
As my 2 local airports, I really hope LBA and DSA can replace lost routes, because I really can’t stand flying from, and the journey to Manchester.
EMA’s terminal is as cramped as Leeds, so if my flight isn’t available from DSA or LBA, it’s Birmingham for me these days.

Its a big shame that we never got wizz here at LBA and the soon to go flybe operation at DSA

I wouldn't worry. The Greens seem to take aim at every airport in turn and usually talk complete nonsense in the process. Unless all airports are closed, the amount of emissions won't change in a positive fashion. People will still fly, but from other airports instead, and will emit more emissions getting to and from them. Sadly the Greens seem unable to think that far ahead. I wonder why they don't focus on Cruise Ships and shipping in general that emits far more harmful pollution than aircraft do? Perhaps it is because they can't actually see them when they are out at sea.

Well, we did actually get the Flybe operation - or so everyone thought. In house buying terms, LBA was gazumped. They had even painted the aircraft markings on to the stands ready for the based E190s. The first LBA knew about Flybe going to DSA instead was when it was announced, and to say they were surprised was an understatement.

I think it was a big mistake -Flybe going to DSA. They already had a good presence at LBA in the Belfast operation, plus I think even then the SOU route. LBA was in need of a CDG service and possibly BRU which Flybe could have made a success of, and of course other European routes such CPH, DUS, Berlin, Munich etc. CDG could have been a W route from LBA, ie LBA-CDG-DSA-CDG-LBA, with a second daily direct LBA-CDG-LBA. It may have worked linking in GLA with a LBA-GLA-LBA-----to onward European destinations. Or using Aberdeen in a similar way.

crikey never knew that! flybe could of had a good little base here at Leeds flying to many of the destinations within Europe that we are trying to get, and a large presense at Leeds would of been noticed by the general public like the way jet2 is so well known.

Only a matter of time before LBA appoint Greta Thunberg as their Development Director!
Does this young lady know that 8 million children die every year due to poverty and 70% of the worlds population is living on less then £2 per day, all the measure she and the Greens promote is going to make poverty far worse, may be they see, euthanasia by the back door, as a way to combat climate change.
Joined up writing it certainly is not, until China, India etc come on board, were all wasting our time.

The is a crane sat on the main apron which is actually propping up the Stand 8 Airbridge, yes it's actually broken once again.
Let's hope the Dutch company involved get the repair right this time around, especially after the Airport spent all that at money on getting them both refurbished last winter.

I guess British Airways won't be too happy about having to use a remote stand once again, especially with all this crappie weather we are having at the moment .

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
