BA, whilst not alone, are missing a trick here in my eyes. With all the turmoil going on with LCC's now is the time for the mainline carriers to sell and promote their enhanced products/cabins. The requirements for First class in the industry maybe on the decline but there is still a healthy demand for Business. I know BA are likely to suffer strikes themselves but if they start to earn increased revenue from a better Business Product then they can pay their pilots. Speculate to accumulate and all that. They have the money.

BA already carry more F passengers than any other international carrier I can think of (EDIT: just thought possibly EK carry more), and have a very healthy proportion of J passengers so much so they converted 18 747s to increase the number of J seats (super hi J config) to 14F 86J 30W 145Y. What additional things do you think they should do to promote their J/F cabins?

Maybe therein lies the problem - complacency. Everyone seems to be saying a TV series full of half wits is going to stop people flying from LBA. If that is true then this latest bout of bad press is going to affect BA too. Both BA and LBA of course do have their loyal supporters but if the product ain't right then news, especially bad news, travels fast. J cabins are in the process of a makeover, so in answer to what else they need to do to improve - their management need to go and fly with SQ in J and see what service and quality is provided. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy flying with BA, but there are better out there

Except that SQ aren't a major competitor of there's. When comparing BAs products it needs to be against the likes of United and Lufthansa and Virgin and Delta and Air France and KLM. Their competition on their main market which is the transatlantic market.

Have to say never understood the love of BA, used to fly regular to the Far East from the mid 70's until 2010, compared to Cathy and Singapore the offer very poor, never found anyone on this route who would willing fly BA. Certainly my work colleagues would rather not get on a BA flight.
Whilst I could understand when my wife and I flew over 200 times a year with BA that cases could go missing or totally lost, now were down to a dozen a year, still cases go missing, on two recent European city breaks not located until our return home.
AS our travel insurance sky high due to our medical conditions, were never able to claim on our insurance as our excess well over £1000 and airlines pay out under the Warsaw Convention.

My Fiancé lives in Buenos Aires. Far from perfect but we try to meet up every 3 months either in Argentina or Europe. In the past 12-18months we have used BA, Delta, United, Turkish and Norwegian. I’m sad to say BA are at the bottom of that list. Very poor cabins on their 772’s on the LHR-EZE route, dated IFE’s, poor food quality and service on board. I will not fly BA again to EZE even though it’s a direct flight. Norwegian are now my choice of airline to fly to EZE.

So average Rail fares are set to increase 2.8% again in January 2020.

I know it seems like British Airways are not interested in Increasing the frequency of the Heathrow to Leeds flights.
But if the ever was a potential time to do it, surely now would be a good time to look into adding a late northbound and early southbound Nightstopper.

OK now back to dreaming.

Yet more bad news: Due to British Airways pilot strikes (Those represented by the union BALPA) the following flights have all being cancelled next week. This dose not just effect LBA as it looks like most if not all London Heathrow - UK domestic and European short haul flights have being cancelled as well.

Monday - September 9th
BA1340 = London Heathrow to Leeds/Bradford
BA1341 = Leeds/Bradford to London Heathrow
BA1344 = London Heathrow to Leeds/Bradford
BA1345 = Leeds/Bradford to London Heathrow
Tuesdays - September 10th
BA1340 = London Heathrow to Leeds/Bradford
BA1341 = Leeds/Bradford to London Heathrow

Pretty much everything will be cancelled those two days. The only flights possibly operating will be long haul arrivals which went out on 8 September since pilots won’t strike when down route.

For those affected there is a wide list of airlines which ba will rebook on. They will even rebook on to LNER.

British Airways Airbus A319, G-EUOH operated its last ever flight today from Heathrow to St Athan for scrapping. Airbus A319, G-EUOE will be next to follow going at the end of this month.
Airbus A319 G-EUOE has history. It is the aircraft that nearly came to grief a few years ago, after a mechanic failed to secure it's engine nacelles properly, with the result that they opened shortly after take off and on one engine, they parted company and caused an engine fire. The other engine wasn't too well either and the aircraft made an emergency landing back at Heathrow, trailing smoke behind it. Passengers disembarked via the shuts but there were no injuries thankfully.

Not good from the Worlds Favorite Airline is it.......I am supposed to be flying with this shower early November.

if your flight gets cancelled they will rebook on Iberia, AA, Aer Lingus , Finnair, JAL, Malaysia, Qatar, SAS, Brussels, Egyptair, Precision Air, Cathay Pacific and Etihad, Saudia, Gulf, Qantas, Tradewind Aviation, Interjet, LATAM, Air France, KLM, Air New Zealand, Philippine Airlines, EVA Air, Kenya Airways, Aegean Airlines, Air Baltic, Air Atlantic, Croatia and Vueling, Singapore Airlines, Bulgaria, Lufthansa, Swiss, and Austrian

so i don't think you will be short of options

Well the next British Airways pilots strike will be held on Friday, September 27th and its not looking good so far. Both the morning BA1340/1341 and evening BA1344/1345 London Heathrow - Leeds/Bradford rotations have already being cancelled.

Heard talk that UK domestic passengers are been told by BA to use the LNER East Coast Mainline Train service as there alternative.

So who would they use to get passengers to the caribbean? Virgin seem the obvious/only carrier.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
