Hi there all, let's hope that we get better and bigger announcements next year, otherwise questions will start to be asked, what is the airport doing for new growth.. Andyc

Local news are at least running this article about new (ish) destinations
All the new destinations you can fly from Birmingham Airport in 2020

Looks like London Stansted is Air India's new flavour of the month and today has launched a new x 3 weekly service to Mumbai adding yet more capacity into the United Kingdom of London only.

They still only have 2 services...

BHX - ATQ & DEL
STN - ATQ & BOM

the later isn’t really shocking either given the fact that AI applied for 14 (?) slots at Heathrow this year and got none! I know BHX has been trying to get a BHX-BOM link for a while now so hopefully it’s in the mix!

Lets hope so woody, however they got these x2 services in a very short space of time. What takes MAG group 2 weeks takes BHX 2 Years

This is shocking news London Stansted to Mumbai. There is a larger Mumbai Community and passenger needs in East/West Midlands this is another one for Radio Coach travel to Stansted from Birmingham with flights to Mumbai. They already on Asian Radio in midlands advertise Free Coach travel to Stansted for Amritsa flights. Another sad day hopefully we will see Mumbai served by another airline from Midlands aswell.

Hi there Ianbutty, as I have said many times before, bhx management have been a sleep for many years now, not prepared to do those deals that others will to bring in nice tasty deals that last for long time, unlike at Birmingham Airport, they just agree a short agreement for 12-15 at this price, then tell the airline what the deal will be after 15 months, then just before 15 months is up, airline then announces that they are pulling out of Birmingham for unknown reasons, then that's it, just like, UA, AA, Iceland Air, plus other that have left in the last couple of years... After starting direct flights from Amritsar to Birmingham AI saw quite a bit of political pressure to add London next. They tried for LHR but were unsuccessful and without anything suitable at LGW they chose STN. BOM is just an extension of that. If slots ever become available at LHR I doubt that they would think twice about moving them across.

What is concerning is the offer of free coach travel to STN for the ATQ flights. My initial thoughts were why spend 3-4 hours on a coach when a direct flight is available just down the road but a quote on another forum from someone who flew STN-ATQ suggests that most of the pax on board were from the Midlands area. Maybe on the days that AI go via DEL going from elsewhere is a better option?

I agree Andy. I live in Essex and other than serving London I cannot see where the market is for Mumbai. And London is already served. The only thing I can think of is whether they are running a significant cargo load, something which BHX cannot sustain?

Ian Stansted Airport is a London airport and serves places like Luton, St Albans so I cannot see the problem

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
