This assuming people will be permitted to travel to or enter Dubai. Or perhaps a cargo only service, does anyone have ideas on this?

Think its more based on an assumption that travel restrictions will have been lifted by then.

It's almost a given we'll still be in lockdown at the start of May, so I expect this and other flights will just keep having their resumption date pushed back.

Dubai – Birmingham eff 01MAY20 1 daily A380 (2nd daily resumes on 01JUN20)

A family member is due to travel back to BHX on 1st may and has been told their flight is cancelled. Trying a dummy booking looks like the first flight on sale to BHX is now 1st June

Looks like it keeps changing so just going to be one to watch.

These updates from the airlines are pointless whilst we are still in lockdown so I am going to stop posting them.

'Emirates will resume regularly scheduled passenger flights to just nine destinations on May 21 but has walked back plans to restart services to as many as 150 cities by mid-July. All flights are being operated by Boeing 777 aircraft and Sir Tim has said the future for Emirates’ fleet is the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.'

Emirates to Permanently Decommission 40% of Airbus A380 Fleet

Which means all 115 B779 they have on order is toast.

Wouldn't be so sure. The current 777s will need replacing at some point, and the A350/B787 won't be big enough for routes like Heathrow which they did operate 6x A380's a day and Emirates said that still wasn't enough!

With the UK being Emirates largest market I think we'll be seeing the A380 for a while still.

Are A380s unscrappable? Who would want those engines, the landing gear assemblies and any unique to type fittings if nearly all operators end A380 services? Can not Airbus modify or convert them for cargo or military service? The economic and social landscape may have changed too much for large capacity passenger use so what will become of these giants of the skies?

Lufthansa Technic are in the procees of converting one A380 into a freighter for an unnamed customer.

It's not great for general cargo I believe. Parcels/package not a problem which is why both FedEx and UPS ordered them before the significant design software incompatibility between the German and French factories became apparent so leading to the A380F being delayed whilst getting the problems resolved and passenger deliveries started,

Whilst I acknowledge the 6 A380s a day into LHR, you've got to remember that they are mostly carrying 490 to 520 passengers (don't think they had the 600 seater sent their way). The B779 appears to have a maximum seating capacity of.... 426 passengers in 2 class and just 349 in 3 class. The A350-1000 can get 410 passengers in 2 class (can't locate a 3 class number but will be about 320 I expect).

With them having 40 A350-900s on order, I can see them, converting them into the A350-1000 and adding another 30 to 40 n a few years whilst converting the B779 order into something like 130 to 140 B789s.

Therefore, I would expect 6 A380s will become 7 A350-1000s eventually as I'm sure there''ll be some carriers who won't mind selling slots to them and to lease them back until such times as Emirates needs them. The likes of MAN. BHX and GLA may see 1 A350-1000 with remaining frequencies on the B789 if they go back to the frequencies before the pandemic and I would imagine that you could see MAN and BHX gaining an extra daily frequency given the year-round operation of the 600 seaters on 2 daily frequencies.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
