I may have missed this, so apologies if I have done. Does anyone know what sort of timescale we can expect in terms of a decision being made?

I have just secured another couple of support letters this morning and 4 or 5 commitments to do so. Please keep pestering anyone you know who uses or supports LBA. So many who support it tend to assume it will just happen. We need to make it difficult for Leeds Council to consider anything other than approval.

Incidentally, LCC will probably expect more opposition than support as that is the norm with airports, so lets do all we can to surprise them!
Those that hate having to travel to MAN airport, those that always say "we hate having to travel from Manchester esp when there is an airport so close" there the ones to target.

I did a support letter a couple of months ago after the public consultations. Is this the same issue or do I need to send another?

Same development but ideally you need to do another via the Leeds.Gov planning portal. The comments you did before were the Public Consultation. We have now moved on to the actual Planning Application so your comments are to the Council rather than to LBA. The reference no. is 20/02559/FU but you will need to register first and open an account. You will see the register option when you go into the Planning Applications portal. Hope that helps?

I’m on it today, I’ll try talk my parents through it and pass it on to my brothers one of whom works for alongside me at Jet2.

I have a question, do I try drum up support by adding a post with links onto my local fb community groups In Farsley and Rodley. I don’t want to inadvertently raise awareness to more NIMBYs so it’s a gamble!

:wtf:

Guys, what about setting up an Instagram / facebook page, with the aim to 'connect' with like minded aviation enthustist groups in the North?

There is a way you can mass mail to accounts on these insta pages. .....another way to get more support comments with LCC.

I wouldn’t bother locally. As I pointed out earlier in this thread:

They are sadly the same uneducated people that think, living in no where near the Airport or Airport Traffic (e.g. Central/East Leeds) and objecting to the airport "because it causes more traffic". When in actual fact it is the constant underfunding of infrastructure since the 1980's that has caused traffic to rise, the persistence to continue building new houses in these areas that adds more traffic, and the constant LCC bottleneck of roadworks.

Rodley/Farsley has had plenty full of roadworks and altering of junctions over the last few years, traffic has substantially increased due to the new housing development in what once was the industrial park, named "Horsforth vale" . Any excuse to contest against the airport development based on local issues will be used, in my opinion.

As a Canadian resident am I able to submit my support for the planning submission on the LCC website? I did try to register so that I could log in, but it asks for a UK postal which I do not have. I did enter my old postal code from Rawdon, but it then needs UK address.

As an airport user who fly’s back to the UK on a regular basis, now for vacation, but formally on business, I resent having to fly from Toronto to and from Manchester. I talking to many of the passengers on the Toronto flights, I am always amazed at how many of the passengers final destination was Yorkshire.

As a former resident, current airport user and a person that still has family that reside close to the airport and rely on the airport for transport, as well as the airport supporting the Yorkshire economy, I do not see why I should not be able to comment and register my support. I have noted objections from people who are not from the local airport area, who are not affected by the flight path or traffic, but they are allowed to comment!

You should be able to comment as an airport user but if it won't let you on line, you can write a letter and send by mail to the address given on the website. Allowing for post time, if you do this I would suggest doing it now. Yes it asks for an address and post code but you could try to register with your Canadian address and see if it allows you to do so.

Great, I got timed out amazing how time flies! In any case although I live in Otley we are officially part of Harrogate so Im not sure how much notice they will take of me.

I agree, just wanted a second opinion. As nice as Horsforth Vale is, it should never have been built without serious upgrades to the ring road between Dawson’s corner and Horsforth new road side. Including the Infamous two roundabouts.

You must be on the northern edge of Otley if you come under Harrogate, but its your airport too. This decision isn't just about Leeds residents. It is the airport for the entire region and Leeds City Council have a responsibility to all the region's residents with regard to the airport.

Completely understand wanting a second opinion. It is one of those - your dammed if you dont and dammed if you do. It could attract a number of positive comments. But it would, very likely & unfortunately, attract the negative ones which it would seem the YEP and Leeds City Council take into account more.

Perfectly summed up @White Heather.

Horsforth Vale...right next to the ring road...railway line right next to it (exactly where Calverley & Rodley station was)...err Park & Ride station please!!

Seriously a Park and, Ride Rail Station at Rodley I believe that would create yet even more traffic on that section of the ring road.

I think everyone agrees Leeds City Council needs to duel the carriageway of the Ring Road section between Horsforth and Pudsey. But the bridges over the Leeds - Liverpool Canal, Railway line and River Aire are a real pain in the arse and will need either strenghing again or better totally replaced . A feasibility study is due to take place very soon.

Plans have being approved to start works to remodel the Pudsey Dawson Corner (A647) junction shortly, which will cause more traffic problems whilst the works are carried out.

I believe they are also hoping to start works at Horsforth to widen the Ring Road section between the (A65) Roundabout and Fink Hill junction.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
