Exactly.Blags my head that Manchester is a labour ran Mayoral team and a predominately Labour government yet they just get on with it and see the benefit of a multi billion pound investment in the airport.

Opposing it for opposing sake, that's all they are doing. We know MP Alex Sobel was only recently involved in a video supporting the Multiflight based aviation collage and the vital part the aviation industry plays. We also know he supports the Northern Powerhouse and the transport requirements it needs to enable the Northern economy to progress. Clearly there is more to their objection than we are aware of.I don't get Labour MP's contesting it. if this doesn't get approve I hope Alex Sobel has a good argument for the reason he doesn't want it. Because I'm going to highlight the fact he wants more people travelling to MAN via car which adds to the climate change. How is that correct?
I'm going to do all I can to ensure that labour do not hold Labour North West seat come the next general election.
A nice piece of impartial reporting - not! The article mentions in the first paragraph the objections of 5 Labour MP;s and GALBA but no mention at all of the Support Group or any other supporters of the application.Knew it wouldn't be long until the local rags got wind of the Chief planning officer report.

Standard reporting we have come to expect from the YEP. Probably partly why their readership has been dropping for years. They used to provide a vital news source for the region,, now the YEP are only interested in "click-bait" material to get advertisement clicks.A nice piece of impartial reporting - not! Well we couldn't possibly suggest that could we, but it makes you wonder?Dare I say money. Dare I suggest ... corruption? Not working for the greater good but for the dollar some uneducable dip sticks in GALBA has dangled in front of them.
If I were the council and I decided to pass the application I would make a stipulation that substantial work commences within 12 months. A big part of the argument for approval is the financial one and the sooner the work starts the sooner new jobs can be created. It seems pointless in the current economic climate to apply the usual 3 year rule for building to commence. The injection of capital and new jobs are needed now, not in 3 years time.
From what I understand the money for this development is ringfenced and comes from the airports parent company AMP Capital a company worth in the region of A$ 5.36 billion.Whose funding the new terminal?
After having had a year or longer with massively reduced income, can the airport afford to start construction in the next 12 months?
If it takes a full summers operation to get their finances in order, they couldn't start until winter 2022/23.

Anyone know if since this is a joint application to change flying hours rules and build new terminal when the flying hours rule change would apply from (if approved)?
