Had a 5 day break to Arnhem booked departing LBA 23 April 2021. Due to Boris's announcement of the international travel ban lasting till May 17th at the earliest I cancelled my outward and return flight LBA to AMS on KLM Tuesday morning. Received an email this morning advising the my full fare has been refunded and paid back into my credit card account. Checked my account and yes the money s there. Two days and all sorted, we are lucky at LBA to have 2 airlines that look after their customers, Jet2 and KLM, and give you confidence in booking and using them in the future. Just a shame not all airlines take this attitude.

We opted for vouchers last year and they were so easy to use - flights for June so maybe just maybe they will go ahead but they were booked under the rebook scheme like yours so unlike BA (who were a nightmare) good job done!

You were lucky. KLM refused to give me a refund for a cancelled flight last year in clear breach of EC261, and would only give me a voucher. I did a chargeback on my card and was successful, and then three months later KLM lied to the card company in an attempt to claw it back by saying they didn't have to refund and the fare was not refundable. Left a very nasty taste, and I will not be booking with them again.

That's not good KARFA trying dirty tricks like that. Perhaps they have learnt from last year if they were inundated with complaints and threated with legal action. KLM emailed me telling me I could claim a refund or voucher and included a link to take me directly to the refund page. Always worried about links being a scam so did it through the KLM website and was refunded back to my card within 2 days.

I can't complain about KLM, they gave me a voucher for my flight to TLS last September even though it was a "non-refundable fare". I am hoping to use to go to Oslo in early July.

Because the Dutch Government have extended the ban on UK passengers until later in the month.
Unexpectedly, noise coming out of the Netherlands is that the block on flights from the UK is to be lifted in the next 24 hours. Reason given is that the UK strain is now dominant across Holland and so the continuation of blocking UK traffic serves no purpose. Restrictions on ferry passengers is also to be lifted. I don't anticipate KLM will significantly re-jig plans but it does offer some hope for better loads once flights resume. UK residents who need to travel for essential reasons will again be able to use KLM and the AMS hub, it won't be a case of KLM just bringing in UK bound customers and a handful of NL residents back to AMS. KLM will be breathing a sigh of relief as access to one of their biggest markets starts to open up again.

KLM have put back the relaunch of the Amsterdam - Leeds route. It now looks like they plan to restart on Thursday, April 1st with a 1x daily service before increasing back to full 3x schedule by the final weekend of April. Lets hope this goes to plan.

No travel now upto the 30th june or else a £5000 fine so i can see why klm have put their schedule back, and im sure it will be delayed further. I believe 21st june was the official date for holiday travel. Lost for words with all whats going off!

Notwithstanding the foreign travel update on the 12th April. Always read the small print!

Yes, those headlines today are misleading. It is extrapolated from the fact the new law starting 29 Mar has an expiry date of end of June, and assumes nothing happens with travel which is a separate conversation anyway. I don’t think it’s been decided to ban travel until the end of June.

Thats when the task force will release the report. The task force full of industry body experts, Chief Executives, Managing Directors etc everyone in travel. Thankfully very minimal input from SAGE and the government.
