To add to the debate , will they need to prove competence to gain code share with the big boys and if you suspend then you wont be able to do that - speculate to accumulate? So, use the slot amnesty to knock off the worst performers and make the best of a bad job to gain favour with the big boys after what was a pretty poor start on that route? i'm guessing those slots will be worth more than a Dash too!

Apparently a codeshare/alliance partnership cant come into effect until there have been 6 months of successful operations. Negotiations are likely to be happening but based on this timescale wont come into effect until Autumn. I understand Flybe are planning the winter timetable at the moment. Plenty of crews but shortage of aircraft (as we knew) Apparently the financial plan assumes losses for the first 3 years and I get the impression I get is they are well resourced. As a footnote last nights flight from LHR had 4 pax.

The only reasons AMS, BHD and LBA were chosen as destinations for LHR were that Flybe have seven daily slots to cover at Heathrow and needed routes to do it until such time as they can achieve a sale of those slots. This route hasn't even got a short term future let alone a long term one. I'd not spend too much time discussing ifs, buts and maybes around it.

Well if this was true I wonder if BA would resume the route as they claim LBA is suspended. If Flybe did cancel the route.

Secondly where are you getting this info from exactly and how do you know that this route is short lived?

Ive been told exactly the same about slot savers from what I consider to be a reliable source.

I just want to quickly return to the Belfast flights. As I said, I'm back and forth a fair bit at the moment and I noted that on one of the days I was looking to book in August, there are now EIGHT flights between Leeds and Belfast among the three serving airlines.

You'd imagine this was causing some competition for prices but the only two that were below £50 were the 5pm Flybe flight I ended up booking (£47.99) and the late Aer Lingus flight that (ironically after my complaints there wasn't a late flight from Belfast to Leeds) was actually too late for me on this occasion (£34.70). Of the remaining six flights that were priced above £50, the Flybe flights were SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than their rivals and almost all compare badly in price terms to similar flights from Manchester.

I'd like to see Flybe enhance this price competition somewhat. As things stand, that is not happening. Aer Lingus and easyJet are cheaper the majority of the time.

Poor FlyBe, they can’t win can they. No trains to London tomorrow with LNER. As a result the 0645 looks to be selling quite well. Only trouble is you can’t return as the LHR-LBA flights for this week have been removed from sale because of Heathrow caps on the number of passengers allowed

Well axing the flight to LBA won't make much difference! Doubt it was carrying that many even on the morning northbound..

I'm booked LHR-LBA this Saturday. It's the last flight of a tranche of bookings I made when Flybe 2 resurrected. Is the flight cancelled or has the airline purely stopped selling seats? The same aircraft performs the Saturday BHD flight also so will need to get to LBA somehow,

I never said the flights are cancelled. I said FlyBe have been made to stop selling new reservations on this service until next Monday.
I was meaning that I didnt think the reason for withdrawing the flights was related to the problems at Heathrow. They cancelled my flights yesterday and today (about 2 weeks ago) but never gave that as the reason.

Presumably they never gave any reason at all?

No they didnt but would have thought they would have been likely to do so if the reason was outside their control.
Not necessarily, as they cancelled before London Heathrow had formally announced the passenger cap. Flybe and others may have been warned this was coming but it's not their place to let the cat out of the bag by telling passengers it's down to Heathrow before it's been announced. Sometimes its simpler to say nothing.

That said, Flybe have themselves announced since that they were reducing frequency of many routes and delaying the start of others, because of the delay in the delivery of their expected fleet. Once again they could have included this in their cancellation communications, but didn't. In both cases it's not their fault, but blaming others doesn't wash with customers, so no point.
Of course, given the garbage passenger figures on the route, they may have cancelled due to that. Or a combination of one or more of these reasons.

I think there has been too much nonsense concerning BE. All I hear are negatives and more negatives. Time they disappeared from LBA unless anyone can give me a sound business reason why they should still be operating here.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
