The other one which doen`t seem to get out much is in boring white scheme

I noticed a PIA B77L flying from Toronto to Karachi flying over UK and European airspace yesterday. There’s also been mention recently that the ban could soon be lifted.

So there’s chances soon we might start seeing the B777s back operating around the UK.

I thought that PIA were banned from flying in UK and EU airspace. Looking online however, the info I can find indicates that they are banned from flying to/from the UK and EU. I assume this allows overflights.

In a recent YouTube video, Sam Chui interviewed the PIA CEO, who stated that PIA will look to streamline it's services to Europe by creating hubs and signing local airlines as feeders. I hope BHX retains PIA's services and I'm encouraged by the fact that they have chartered another carrier to operate for them during the ban.

As it stands for now they are. But numerous sources including this one below suggest that this ban could soon be lifted. The Pakistan aviation authority’s think it could be next month that the ban is finally lifted. As well as the fact they have been flying over the UK recently which is showing early indications.

PIA CEO Hopes EU Will Lift Ban Next Month

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is likely to resume its European Union operations next month after getting clearance from international aviation auditors, its CEO Arshad Malik said on Thursday.

“International auditors may complete the audit of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and PIA by next month,” Mr Malik told journalists. “We are very much hopeful that the EU ban on PIA will be lifted in the wake of this audit.”

He said international safety groups would also visit Pakistan later this month or early next month in this regard.

Hopefully they have learnt lessons from this debacle and finally realise we will not put up with shoddy maintenance and shoddy training of there pilots.

However will be good to see a PIA 777 back at BHX. 👍

PIA's website has BHX at the previously served 4 weekly from June. Indeed the flight number changes from 1st June so they must be working towards this date to return on their own metal.

From Islamabad, Manchester showing as daily and Heathrow as 6 weekly.

A quick check on Google flights shows PK791 on Tuesdays and Saturdays starting from June. Hopefully, we will know more soon.

That flight is an evacuation flight repatriating Pakistan Nationals from Ukraine. With regards to seeing them in the UK the airline seems confident that the ban might be lifted next month. But I guess it’s a wait and see.

taken from a Pakistan aviation forum:-

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to undergo European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) audit from May 23 to 27. Positive result of the audit will enable PIA to resume commercial passenger/cargo flight operations to & from Europe/UK suspended since July 2020.

EASA team audit includes PIA safety and security measures review. The visiting EASA team will receive briefing from heads and officers of various PIA departments.

Passenger services, cargo handling and other services/departments of the airline will also be observed/reviewed by the visiting EASA team.

Little news here for a while. The ISB flights seem to have stopped ? Which could indicate why perhaps, I haven’t seen JY-JVB for a while. At least on the BHX booking site there seem to be no flights available until 26 March 2023, then at 4 a week. The TK flights do of course now share a PK flight no. and the Jordan Aviation machine as been in IST a lot over the past week.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
