Last time (the only time!) I looked at booking with KLM via Amsterdam to Montreal, the fare out if LBA to AMS was high, but the advertised price from Amsterdam to Montreal was also high. When booking a through flight though the total cost was well below the fare for the two sectors individually. So the point to point fares were high, but the onward booking resulted in a far more reasonable cost. Not sure if it's still the case but it wouldn't surprise me as it encourages through bookings.

In the end it was cheaper to go with BMi from over the hill (2010 so LBA has lost its BMi service) to Heathrow and then with Air Canada.

AMS can’t cope with the amount of traffic they currently have due to security shortages with lines sometimes up to 4hrs which I experienced in September. So unless the airport get that sorted and treat their security staff better I can see these reduced operations lasting longer.

Good news. Shame no B737's.

And appreciated by all concerned no doubt.
There's only one KLM tomorrow from what I can see, so probably only one today had they opened.
A busy Wizz day again tomorrow.

I don't see why, if all the other airports are prepared to stay open, Leeds are not.
It's common sense, that's why.
Bringing in ATC, fire cover, baggage handlers, ground staff (Swissport), Border Force, refuellers, cleaners, duty free staff, bar staff, and the rest into work, not to mention the cost of opening the terminal itself, all for one flight? Makes zero financial sense. It also shows LBA care about their staff getting a day off at Christmas.
Perhaps the other airports had more than one flight to open for!

Teeside had 2 flights- both KLM, Norwich had 3 KLM and one TUI.

Maybe Teeside would only have had 1 if ours hadn't been cancelled.
Quite possibly.

LBA will have lost nothing of any significance by staying closed . They would have lost money and staff goodwill bringing all those people in for just one/ max two KLM(s). Almost certainly they would have had to pay staff extra, to sit twiddling their thumbs most of the day, as would the likes of Swissport, shop owners, car hire, and the rest. You can't open the airport but have half of the facilities closed. Even the cleaners would have had to go in on Christmas Day. LBA closing today isn't unusual. It's closed on Christmas Day the vast majority of years.

I agree but I'm not sure KLM will see it that way. Werent Wizz originally having a flight today too?

Anyway it's back to business as usual tomorrow.

Have KLM never cancelled a flight? Should LBA go to the expense of many tens of thousands of pounds to accommodate one flight that is likely to have a very low load on Christmas day? I largely follow BHX, which had numerous flights, including several long haul wide bodies and European hub services. So it made sense for them to stay open.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
