That was quite a sight!. It arrived a bit late as I recall. Beginning to get dark and misty. That was quite a week with all the USAF military movements and the helicopters
I posted these from the G8 summit -

I've been reading the recent posts with interest especially regarding the Air Algeria Caravell which operated late evening, also Air France operated the service the year before or after with a weekly flight.if I remember correctly they were I/T flights to Nice. Wouldn't be surprised if they were flights for M.A.T.O. owned by "Deadly Doug"

Favourite aircraft definitely the Spantax Coronado watching it charge down the runway and disappearing in a cloud of smoke and noise over Brum.I always waited to see what disappeared last the aircraft, the noise., or the smoke.

The VC10 an honourable second fo me.

I think the smoke is still hanging around. Loved those times. Aircraft let you know of their presence. Oh how I miss the long drawn out drone of the DC3 and the dirty roar of a BAC1-11.

Here are a few more from my archive. Sorry some are a bit grainy, but I had to zoom in to see them large enough -

I don't think I've posted any of the above before.

My less than perfect picture of AF1 arriving,if I remember it was about 9pm from the viewing area in the terminal which had stayed open fot the crowds waiting for it,and was nearly dark and getting foggy.Regards,Simon.

I was just daydreaming and I remembered the time I was supposed to fly home from Corfu to BHX on an Air Europe 757 (1989). After a 7 hour delay an airplane rocked up that I absolutely wasn't expecting to take us home.....a TEA A300 B1 OO-TEF. A real rare one as I don't think many B1's existed and/or went into commercial service. I was ill before I got on the flight, so I just wanted to get home, but so glad I got to fly on a rare one for sure 👌❤️
Just thought I'd share that random memory.....

The A300B1 was a very rare aircraft indeed. The production list shows just 2 examples, with OO-TEF (MSN 002) being the only one that went into airline service, although sadly now scraped.

Ignore the 'log in required', the page opens.

I remember seeing it at BHX and may have a photo somewhere.

Yes I do, they used publish two as I recall consisting of a complete comprehensive network effort similar to a paperback and then a separate tiny one with just the Birmingham services with very few pages maybe only 4/5 pages.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
