The idiots, morons, unintelligent pillocks, see fit what you want, that run Leeds council have spent millions trying to make it impossible to get around Leeds. That is because whilst we were all distracted with the fake (in my opinion) pandemic they went and signed up to the WEF 15 minute cities.

Now the same idiots morons will have to re jig all their plans of this was to go ahead.

I don’t believe we will get it. Rishi is clinging on, he isn’t liked by his MP’s, party members, and its face it despised by the majority of the country. Did a coup to get his prized goal of PM.

If it is to go ahead - first link would be north south in my opinion. Then east west. And slowly build the network up.

Yes I think I recall the same. The route I mentioned is only an example of what they could do. Who knows, what they would actually do if they ever did do something.

Anyway I've found this map for everyone to ponder over.

I don't know if this is just something somebody has dreamt up or if it's an official plan of some sort. It would be good if it were to happen though.
Just looks to be a road map to me?
There is a tram map somewhere showing the planned routes including a link to LBA but I really cannot see us ending up with a tram network covering all of West Yorkshire, which is what Crazy Brabin wants.

Me neither. A canal barge network is more plausible for hopeless Brabin, seriously what has she done?

Was it her that secured funding for a Leeds - Bradford super highway for cyclists ?

I don't think any of them can be trusted to deliver anything at this stage other than perhaps another cycle lane.

Don’t even trust them to do that. They’ll deliver 15 minute (concentration camps) neighbourhoods thought be assured of that.

She too. Is another pointless waste of space in West Yorkshire. Imagine if Leeds/West Yorkshire had an Andy Burnham poltician? If we had Councils that backed its citizens. If we had MP’s that cared for the people they represent and not just in it for personal gain. Leeds/West Yorkshire would be a formidable force.

Leeds is the 3rd largest stand alone city in terms of inner suburb sprawl and cc, the 2nd finacial centre of england and the economic powerhouse of yorkshire!
But you just cant get in or out of it because transports s***!!
But i agree imagine if we had an andy burnham here, wow!

I’m not sure we should be referring to the pandemic being fake Sherburnflyer92, lots of people know people who died due to it. I very much doubt they will think it fake. On a separate note, I have decided I will give my vote to big Tracy B, as long as she evidences her ability to do a big shop via cycle in the middle of Winter, which I suspect will never happen🤡

I don’t no where they expect a tram will go, the city’s roads are already a disaster can you imagine the chaos it will cause building it
They should really go for broke and build a underground with 3 to 4 cross city lines with a big interchange somewhere in the city centre

I remember the carnage getting around Sheffield when they built Supertram there. Nightmare! I can only imagine what Leeds will be like in some areas. Luckily there are still quite a few of the central reservations left where trams ran until 1959, which can be used again, such as at Lawnswood, York Road, Scott Hall Road (which never had trams) and Belle Isle Road. But the likes of Headingley wil be chaos.
The airport should be high priority - one of the first routes built. But this is Leeds and the Mayor is Crazy Brabin who cares nothing for the airport, so it'll probably be last, if ever. There will probably be a tram route that terminates a mile down the road from LBA! Leeds logic!!

That would cost more then HS2

Well if we can't build on the streets or under them it's time to consider a overhead railway above the streets. Works in the US.

They need to build routes where there is currently no rail infrastructure, like up to Roundhay but you can just see it a tram running alongside a railway the way LCC operates, I think the old proposal from the late 90’s had routes to Holt Park Seacroft and Middleton? I may be wrong on that

I am intrigued by the planned Shipley bypass and how this might help with access
Same here as i live close to shipley, plans drawn up decades ago was to actually have a tunnel under shipley and the m606 motorway was to extend all the way down to the shipley area and continue to what is the bingley bypass, the current dual carriageways we currently have to Keighley and onto sildens/crosshills originally was planned to continue all the way to the m65 in colne. So basically a motorway/dual carriageway all the way!

The tram was only going as far as Lawnswood, which at the time was a location for student accommodation. That's not there now so there's probably insufficient demand. It was never going to Holt Park, but the Trolley Bus was, but via Otley Old Road rather than via Lawnswood and Adel.

As for a Leeds Underground system, there were plans for one before the war. I wonder what happened to that?

Oh yes. Cancelled!

Too expensive WH and I don't think it got past the 'thinking stage' Same old Leeds !!

I saw the full plans for the Super Tram, no doubt covered in dust now and archived.
The land that is now the park and ride in Stourton was bought for the purpose it has now been put use for, but now as the bus park and ride.
The large flagged are outside the Unitarian Chapel in City square was done for the tram.

Speaking following today’s announcement, Mayor of West Yorkshire Tracy Brabin described the scrapping of the Northern Leg of HS2 as “yet another betrayal of the North.”

Seriously, how did this woman think West Yorkshire would benefit from continuing HS2 to Manchester? Why is she even getting involved. As much as I don't think any of what has been announced today will actually happen, it's a far better deal for West Yorkshire than the alternative.

She's just wittering on along with her counterparts, so people think they are doing something. As a Mayor, she's a waste of space. Andy Burnham puts her to shame. Trust us to have our first Mayor and end up with her.

If a supertram is ever delivered for Leeds no doubt she will try take the credit.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
