As most folk are aware by now I don't live in the Leeds area so she is really of no concern to me but I do share your thoughts and also criticisms of the two faced comments she, and other politicians will make, in the coming months. She lives in South London and spends the bare minimum of time in the constituency so as far as knowing what goes on there, is probably a mystery to her. What isn't a mystery to any of them is how to make glib crap comments on the run up to an election.
I think I’ve posted before that when I was much younger and used to get very agitated by politics and politicians I can remember my dad telling me that I would eventually realise that politicians were all the same and only in it for themselves, how right he was!

Coin a relative of mine who’s no longer with us “they all piss in same pot”.

Doesn’t help they are all signed up to the WEF. It’s why Trump is so so so popular in the US.

Trump needs to be extra careful from what im hearing esp when you have the likes of the WEF etc on his back,
Must admit i listened to one of trumps live rally speeches last night where he clearly explained the absolute mess that the biden administration has caused, whatever people may think of trump he is the man that most certainly needs to back in the whitehouse!
The world is a mess at present, the west is weak and the east as we are seeing yet again are doing as they wish to cause havoc!

It will end up having a lot to do with LBA, plus all other airports and airlines too, if things escalate in Israel and Ukraine which they could easily do. Equally they may not and I am no politician so can't say with any certainty either way. But I agree with @LBA4EVER that the world is a mess and it needs some strong characters right here and right now. These are worrying times

If things escalate in Israel it may well cause big problems here at home too! Funny how when trump was in office the world was such a peaceful place (apart from the lefty media) and so called rogue nations were in dialog rather than blowing each other to bits! be warned things could get nasty!

I think what the world needs is leaders who are strong, can be trusted and who are sane, not someone who is petulant, irrational and self-absorbed like Trump. However, back to what this thread is about, not long now until the council needs to review and give clarification on night movements. This decision will give clarity and hopefully resolve matters for LBA- fingers crossed for positive news.

Imagine euro 96 plus all the current summer afternoon arrivals together, be mental!
Never mind..A re-opened DSA could take what LBA couldn't. They'd like that! If it hasn't closed down again by 2028.

Even so, once again there's no levelling up in the North with Manchester and Liverpool being venues , and Newcastle, but nothing in poor little Yorkshire despite the fact that Elland Road should, by then, be 55,000 capacity.
It wouldn't surprise me if LBA have said they couldn't handle the traffic (and let's face it, they couldn't ) and that will have had some bearing on the decision to overlook Leeds, irrespective of the ground being modernised and expanded by then.

An airport in itself can make or break a region, cities become more well known around the world if their airport becomes large and successful, abit like a footy team. More passengers and destinations puts a city more on the map, our pathetic councillors cant seem to grasp this.

The new Alex Sobel 😔

She is the Labour candidate for NW Leeds as Sobel is moving elsewhere….may be worth the support group speaking with her to canvass her view on the airport, although as she lives outside the constituency and is a neighbour and friend of Sobel I doubt it will be positive!

She is current Labour Councillor for Weetwood. She never canvassed in my street at the last local election but sent a very nice young lady instead. So it was she that spent 15 minutes making notes on my doorstep as to why I wouldn't vote for the Labour candidate as long as they were openly cuddling up to Sobel .....or until such time as they openly declared support for the airport and it's development.

Not LBA related, but the same owners....
The Levelling Up Minister has today granted planning consent for a while raft of changes at Luton after the original application was called in. These include a terminal extension, dual carriageway approach road, new parallel taxiway, extended taxiway and several others.

The Minister made reference to the new quieter aircraft as a contributing factor to approval but suggested if this doesn't happen in the way expected then until it does, LTN should limit passenger throughput. New noise contouring is apparently a requirement too but following in the approval last year of a major expansion at Stansted, and also at Bristol you have to wonder what the outcome would have been at LBA had Covid plus the considerable delay by Government not led to the approved planning application for a new terminal not been withdrawn.

Hey, but this is Leeds and LBA, so no doubt they would have taken a totally different approach. Like, application refused.

You may remember my suggestion a while back that the airport might pick litter at the cemetery and prune back trees and shrubs at 14 end to improve viewing. It didnt receive a positive response from forum members who basically said "why should/would they"

Anyway I wrote to the CEO who's secretary replied thanking me for the suggestion and said they would arrange to prune back the trees/shrubs shortly and that they had already made the first pick of litter.

I am pleased with this result. When I see the overall result of the pruning I will write to LCC asking them to do something with the trees and shrubs on their land.

Great response and outcome.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
