Just an update on the TUI, when we landed this evening we parked on I think stand 21 as we were towed after we came to a stop. On the bus to the terminal we passed the TUI it was been power washed down on the tail and looked clean everywhere else. There was a bunch of people some with TUI fluorescent jackets on and the engine cover was open on the right hand side looking straight at it from the nose. To the right of the engine looked to be a replacement engine although it was covered in blue tarpaulin (but was engine shaped), so a possible engine swap or maybe had already been done.

You will have parked on stand 21B as that stand requires towing on.

I’ve been watching the goings on with the aircraft as they had quite a few engineers working on it during the days I was about. As you say it looks cleaner I think they’ve also replaced one of the tyres as I was told one was still flat and needed replacing. Overall it looks like they’re making progress.

Fiat tyre? Did it burst a tyre on landing then? That would certainly have affected things when trying to stop on a 100% wet runway? I can't see it bursting a tyre running into soft ground.

I don’t know if it burst on landing I was just told this by a friend who took photos of the aircraft on stand and there was a spare tyre sat next to the plane presumably waiting to be installed by engineers.

A fiat tyre! Thats why it ran off the runway haha
They will Fix It Again Tomorrow!
You should know 🤣

Can't amend the Fiat typo sadly, as I'm out if my time limit to edit.

Probably SOP's by now....Give it a coat of looking at, just to say we have, then go to Manchester....do not pass go and do not collect FOD in your donks!!

We have 2x TUI Boeing 737-800's due into LBA on Tuesday 31/10/23

TOM3369
- ETD 13:10 from Malaga (Return Marella Cruise pax)
TOM3251 - ETA 13:50 from Palma (Last of Summer 2023 charters)
'Due' being the operative word - or am I being cynical??

It’s Halloween so the crews will be wanting to get back home early to be with their kids so definitely going to Manchester!
So will it end up being a Treat with TUI'n a day or will we be missing a Trick with diverts to MAN!! I am sure in my younger days (a long time ago) we sometimes had 3 x BY B732's on the deck at the same time. Oh how times have changed

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
