Its anyone's guess what the airport are doing. The airport still needs clarification on whether or not aircraft with a quota count of less than 0.5 count towards the night flying quota. As a guess and its only a guess, it looks like the airport may have been asked to withdraw the application on the basis on a new understanding with LCC. There is also a 0.25 and a 0.125 which the DfT added to the London quota count system.

Aircraft were originally divided into six QC bands from 0.5 to 16, but following a review by the Department for Transport[1] a seventh category – Quota Count 0.25 – was added in March 2007[2] and an eighth category – Quota Count 0.125 – in September 2018.[3] Wikipedia.Org

The problem with the Leeds system is it was developed copying the London quota count system but it was never amended inline with the system it was meant to be copying.

-DeparturesArrivals
Aircraft typeQuota Count
Airbus A320 family
0.125–10.125–0.5

Boeing 737 Classic
0.25–0.51
Boeing 747-400

Boeing 757-200
0.50.25
Boeing 767-300

Boeing 777-200ER

The above might explain why the 757 was withdrawn from LBA as it used a larger proportion of the quota count compared with the smaller variants.

I think it may have been withdrawn because in reality, it was superfluous. It didn't really achieve anything. The remaining 4 applications, if successful, would seem to achieve what the airport needs.

Application 2 stating the planning approval doesn't cover the quieter aircraft is perhaps stating the obvious if that's the case, but, if the planning approval did allow for the updated NOTAMs which introduced quieter aircraft (as LBA claim) then Application 2 seems unnecessary. Perhaps there's been an acceptance that the updated NOTAMs should be taken into consideration and therefore a mutual agreement that Application 2 should be withdrawn.

Those applications based on immunity from enforcement because the Council failed to enforce for over 10 years are the critical ones and difficult to defend given that is the law. If LBA win that argument then they pretty much get what they want and need.

So the Labour candidate for the Airports constituency has just been announced - it’s Katie White OBE. This is the support the airport can look forward to if she gets elected! https://westleedsdispatch.com/clima...ds-bradford-airport-over-night-flights-issue/

Only Leeds Bradford airport could end up with a climate activist as it’s MP 😔

Am I right in thinking that LCC are to announce their decision on Wednesday, or can they delay again?
Not sure they can - at least not without LBA approving it. The planning laws specify the timescale for approval . I honestly can't see LBA being happy about further delay. I assume the first delay was only because the Council messed up and didn't know it until LBAs legal representatives wrote to tell them they had all their wires crossed, which makes them look like a bunch of amateurs.

So calling into question the legality of LBA’s applications and the inevitable threats of legal action if the decision is in favour of LBA. The fact remains that LBA have used an entirely legal procedure under U.K. law that best suits their case (which appears to annoy her!) and which they have a good chance of winning. She goes on about mutual trust but I wouldn’t trust a climate activist as far as I could throw them. Trust works both ways but it’s always take, take, take with these people and no give.

These climate activists probably make more noise, and emit more **** than the airport/aircraft themselves. Let's hope the positive decision is now imminent
Well this her statement on LBA
”I want to see the jobs and opportunities provided by Leeds Bradford Airport protected, while preventing any attempt to increase night flights via a backdoor. I believe we must accelerate the move to lower carbon flying as part of our transition to a modern, net-zero economy”

She will certainly have been told what to do by the outgoing untrustworthy general pain in the backside, that's handing over to her.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
