I always appreciate peoples views on music.

I am not musical in any sense and, as a child never listened to any radio or records. Somehow I managed to have two daughters with music in their blood - one is a flautist and the other a vocalist. This came from their maternal grandfather's side of the family and they have an uncle who is an expert ukulele player who tours in Europe and North America.

Thank you for pointing me in the direction of composers who I might find of interest.

Classical music is a vast area, encompassing the earliest era going back to Tudor times , the symphonic era that Joseph Haydn helped develop and Mozart perfected and Beethoven expanded, to the modern atonal stuff that is quite frankly painful ! You are correct JFY1999, my preference is for the heavy stuff of Gustav Mahler, Richard Wagner, Anton Bruckner, all products of the Vienna School in the 19th century. A particular favourite is Baroque era, GF Handel, Telemann, Purcell as it is what specialised when I was playing in orchestra's in my younger days. Jaunty happy and colourful.

Personally, Ballet music to me is turgid ! Modern musicals are for the bin.

WOW, Aviation warning lights have been switched on the 37 storey Exchange Square Tower in the city centre. And we have loads of them, he he he he he

Can anyone else see what is wrong with that picture ? A small cluster of our city's finest building's being swamped by modernism gone to extremes. The good, bad and the ugly, what are planners smoking these days ?

Ah Well I know we have flights to Paris I was thinking that maybe BVA on Ryanair might be more of option for people who can't afford to fly AF to CDG if it was closer. But CDG is Closer and I guess as France has a better Train Network than us the TGV can get you there probably in the same time as a train from Wolverhampton to Walsall takes

Just something I have wondered as Air Lingus have a UK Division with British G Reg codes but can an airline use its home country reg for overseas based Aircraft so say if an Airline had a hub at JFK or established one and they were British could they use the G-Registeration in the States and Vice Versa and stupid question but say the British based Aircraft say a 77W was flying from LHR to JFK and landed and then gained a technical fault and the US Base also operated 77W's could it fix the UK Aircraft in the US and then use on that say JFK - GIG whilst a US Aircraft flew back to London or do the UK and US have different protocols meaning that if the Aircraft has to be repaired properly back in England

I think the French are more than ready to strike. It really annoys me the way our unions try to strangle the population over here and leave the people who cannot strike for mugs as they usually earn half what the
rail staff earn but if we were to strike our jobs would be gone in a second

Afternoon all, I don't suppose anyone is watching the Aviation Action stream this morning and witnessed another spotter completely embarrass himself by getting in the way of the camera and trying to aggravate the streams host?

AA does a great job in making our local aviation accessible and its always great for people who can't go and see a unique movement to be able to watch it live from the comfort of their home, why anyone feels the need to take umbrage at that is completely beyond me. What a woeful display of character.

The rights and freedom to be a complete Ass and annoy others comes without the responsibility and jeopardy that should follow. That person lives in a country so unlike USA, where idiots may face someone without fear and possibly carrying a firearm, licenced and willing to use it. That person also never lived under a regime like East Germany whereby every move or word spoken could have been recorded and given to STASI operatives. Freedom to be an idiot is to be defended but not necessarily applauded. Airport Action do a fantastic job with basic resources and do not irritate the viewer with inept commentary unlike a certain London provider I cancelled recently. Happy Christmas everyone.

Gliderpilot, i also saw the incident you refer to on Christmas Eve, although on playback. Airport Action does a fantastic job in all weathers, and actually helps promote the growing range of services available from BHX. Something a myriad of adverts may fail to do.
For that obnoxious individual to deliberately attempt to block his view and engage in a ridiculous conversation for so long, was quite disturbing. Kevin handled the situation extremely well. The other guy was old enough to know better and ended up looking a complete fool.
Well done Kevin and Airport Action!!.

Hi there Aviador, were there issues with the Birmingham airport forum site, as I had issues trying to get on the website....

All explained here -

It did seem to go on a little longer than anticipated (and affected the whole forum, not just BHX), but you should always check the site information forum for updates.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
