Out of interest, is there anything along the lines of a 'Friends of LBA' group? If there is, surely the media should also give time to the views of a pro-LBA lobby. If there's not such a group, would it be worth starting one?
That's effectively what the Airport Support Group is, and why we have been represented on the Airport Consultative Committee since the late 80s. We have said before that we ideally need a person to be our public persona, someone in a suitable position in the business world, and used to dealing with the media who have shown themselves many times to be anything other than trustworthy or unbiased.

I don't feel oersonally that now I'm up to doing any more than attend the Consultative Meeting and report back to airport supporters who have become part of the Support Group via this forum. Aviador, LBASpotter and myself have met with the airport on several occasions, worked to assist them, published their press releases to increase circulation and tried to generate support via social media for such as the new terminal, with some success, but despite asking, we haven't yet found anyone who feels able to put themselves forward and be our media representative. That's understandable given the nature of public reaction to airport issues. Whoever does it has to be prepared for flak. I've taken it in the past when supporting the airport on various issues, but I'm not taking it now.

Maybe one day we will find the right person who can go on TV and shut the Unmentionables up publicly and permanently.

The save DSA page now has posted about our expansion on their page. Not sure what it has to do with DSA? But obviously the airport is now getting a bashing. Which isn’t fair on LBA and peoples baseless points which they think are true.

King Chadwick posted in the past about no bashing other airports but has approved this post, obviously knowing it will rile up the glory DSA lifers

They think the world ow them DSA and LBA with 4million pax shouldn’t exist when DSA scraps over 1million should be superior. It’s comical.
They are certain to be upset. They know very well that the development of LBA will make it harder than ever to find an airport operator who can see profit ahead. The bigger LBA becomes, the harder it will be for DSA.

BBC radio Leeds

By Chris Baynes
BBC News

A passenger has told of her shock after a holiday jet skidded off a runway as it landed at Leeds Bradford Airport.
Nicola Lewellen, 45, was on board the TUI flight from Corfu as it touched down in the UK during Storm Babet.
She said passengers "gasped" as the aircraft veered off the runway, churning mud onto its windows. All passengers and crew were evacuated.
Travel firm TUI apologised after the incident forced the closure of the airport on Friday.

I just read this article again because under the new heading "Leeds Bradford Airport" it said it was updated 2 days ago. Anyway, no update so far as I could tell but having read the article again I noticed a huge inaccuracy reported by the BBC shock-horror! The article says "all passengers and crew were evacuated", which they weren't at all.

Short commute home for our friend Spencer Stokes this evening after the incident in Horsforth.
Shocking!
The Police chopper was overhead Horsforth for about 90 minutes, although for 15 minutes it was circling overhead Holt Park Centre - then went back to Horsforth. I was in the garden and could hear the various police sirens as they went to the scene. Another example of the way the world is. Truly shocking . A similar event happened earlier this year at Allerton High on King Lane, Alwoodley.

Yeah really sad news according to people on Facebook the lad has sadly passed away
Regarding Spencer Stokes I get the impression he has been very quiet over the last couple of weeks not seen much of him on the news, I do wounder if all the complains to the BBC have brought him down a peg or 2

I think we should also tread very carefully on what we discus on here seen as its a public forum. Especially as its turned into a murder investigation.

I dread to think of the pain the parents of the said 15 old boy that has passed away are going though right now... Thoughts are with his friends & Family..

I read it earlier today and instantly thought they were trying to show LBA in a bad light, once again focusing on the negatives rather than focusing on the fact LBA was one of the best performing airports with the least delays.

The gutter press have everything to answer for IMO....got chatting to a nice lady, who is media savvy, and she asked me if I knew Doncaster was reopening and they are taking bookings for it now...Oh which airline I asked?..Oh Jet2 she replied 🤣🤣

Now I'm sorry, she was a nice lady, but I didn't let her down gently...Told her the harsh realities and years before it ever happened.... Crestfallen, but if you believe the media, rude awakening beckons...

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
