They’re also looking for crew in BRS and the word is that they’ll be taking over (some or all) of the KLM service to AMS. Assume it’ll be the same at LBA
If so that is very disappointing news after serving airports such as LBA and BRS for many decades with trusted and unwavering reliability. I'm not convinced Eastern Airways shares that same customer trust.

Edit: or rather I am sure Eastern don't share the same customer trust.

They dont have the flexibility either. Currently if an a/c goes tech KLM simply substitutes another aircraft from its 'pool'.
What would Eastern do? Coach pax to MAN? One season of poor performance will see the pax figures drop right off and it will take years to get customer trust back.

Fingers crossed its all about an LHR route.

I assume that if this was the case, it would still be bookable as a KLM flight so many would book in the expectation that they would fly KLM, as they do now and often end up on German Airways. However, remember that I reported that LBA were in discussions regarding recommencing the LHR route due to an ' unexpected opportunity'? That could be Eastern too in a code share with BA. If Eastern opened a base here, it could be both AMS and LHR using their Embraers but personally I hope it's neither. Come back and do Newquay or Southampton or somewhere else but Eastern to Amsterdam or Heathrow sounds like a bad dream. Are things so bad with KLM that suddenly they are dropping long standing and successful routes? Why not continue with German Airways until their aircraft shortages are resolved?

KLM is a trusted brand, even someone who has very little knowledge of aviation will probably know the airline KLM with their distinct blue livery, AMS amsterdam and KLM go together, the general public like to use AMS to connect due to flying on a Regional KLM flight then connecting to one of their long haul ops.
To start mixing it up using eastern airlines is crazy, unreliable, wrong aircraft and generally diluting the service will badly affect the KLM brand!
In todays world we seem to have this thing about changing stuff for the worse.
I just hope eastern have other plans.

If this is AMS on behalf of KLM then this suggests KL are happy with what T3 are already doing for them at MME/HUY/NCL/GLA.

If this is LHR on behalf of BA then this does indeed link in with WH’s previous comments re a LHR link.

Think @lbaspotter mentioned months ago that AF were supposedly looking at LBA and of course T3 and AF already codeshare on EMA and SOU. So could it be this.

Or could it just be................all 3!!!!

Or even as an outside bet.......all 4 (so a return of their own flights too). This being the most unlikely in my eyes.

All a potentially interesting development though.

And of course not forgetting two new stands are appearing this winter. Now is this the reason?

Or 2 new stands for the new monarch airlines if it happens of course. thats 2 new stands planned gone already, which was a discussion in the other room.

Good point @AirBingley especially as we were due to get 737s on one service some time ago so LBA has to be high up KL's priority list surely.

I actually do think there is more to this than KLM but who knows at this stage.

My preference would be BA code share for 2 reasons. Firstly a route we want back and secondly would almost certainly mean an early a.m southbound.

Sure more will become clearer in the not too distant future.

AF possibly as the KL group seem to be working with T3 more closely?

Forget Monarch… won't happen.
If it won't happen, why are they advertising for flight deck crews type rated for the A320 family and cabin crew too, with named bases at Luton, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds? There must be an intention to start up to go to those lengths. It's a very different market to Flybe but time will tell.I guess.

This the @letsmonarch on instagram whose website lists a limited company Monarch Airlines Limited (14600586) where the confirmation statement is 4 months overdue and has an active propsal to strike off the register?

I really hope I’m wrong and it would be great to see another airline at LBA but I have a feeling that they are just another Global.

I used to love flying LBA To ALC with Monarch, certainly had a quality feel to their service, great value fares and a good customer base rather than the ryanair cattle train, altho since the ending of monarch ryanair have greatly improved their service.
Flew out with monarch 5 days before they went under, thankfully i was flying back with ryanair!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
