The more I think about this, the more logical it becomes to be honest.
The likes of Emirates, Etihad and Gulf Air as examples, are using T1 (until May I think?), then there won’t be room for both Ryanair and easyJet in the current level 5 departures and as Ryanair will have to be in place prior to June as this is the government deadline for the installation of new scanners, then it would make sense relocating easyJet to ground level check in until the remaining T1 airlines move to T2, then hopefully both Ryanair and EasyJet can use the departures A (level 5) check in area.

Just my thoughts…
Continued use of ground level as a short term stop-gap whilst final movements to T2 take place makes sense if that’s the plan. Surely moving all to departures A / security A must be the long term plan?! As well as being a more positive passenger experience, I’d assume more economical as well - less staff/equipment/heating/lighting cost?

Now we know T1 not going to be mothballed. Any plans for redevelopment of buildings and demolition of old tower block and old ops tower? Both eyesores! Any new apron plans to show new remote stands yet?

Next Friday I will, all being equal, be attending the Manchester Airport Consultative Committee meeting as an observer. If anything if interest is discussed I'll do my best to ensure that you're made aware of it.

According to ringwayreports on Instagram, legacy T2 stands to be renumbered 301-308 and become D gates D1-D8?

My understanding was that Pier 2 was to become C gates at 301-312 etc so this would make sense for the legacy stands to become 401-408

If MAG went ahead with the 3 or 4 finger pier design for T2 proposed in the 2015 planning application they could re clam a lot of the airfield space occupied by T1. I have attached the application and highlighted in purple where T2 and T3 could be joined together airside. Also highlighted where the expanded check in and departures area could fit for T3. If they did soothing similar to T2 the existing check-in hall could all be departures.

Would be costly resigning and painting new stand numbers!

Thanks for posting that link. Interesting to hear reference to there being no need to bus domestic passengers - or do I need to put my hearing aids back in??

It was stated on this very forum a few weeks ago from a reliable source that both BA and Aer Lingus would be using airbridge’s for their Heathrow and Dublin flights respectively.

Not clear which stands/gates would be used though…

I just hope they can get the funding in place for pier 3 and 4 now. As I do think the multi pier design offers more flexibility than the legacy T2 did. Widebody gates are still at a premium especially if you consider 3 have been removed from the legacy T2.

Pier 4 is unlikely anytime soon; it would need the removal of all of pier C, and was part justified with an airside T1 link. To be of full use it would also need some of T1s removal. Pier 3 however if built correctly is a no brainer.

I suppose there is a chance 315 could be used which is on the end of the pier. No airbridge but at least no bus either. 314 is also a black sheep, it is air bridged but so far renders suggest the connecting link is only at the arrivals level. Possibly using stairs in the pier as opposed to in the node? Either way good news! There’s also mention of a shop on the pier.

Aurigny showing in the system as in T2 from 12th Feb

Maybe they will be the guinea pigs for the domestic gates/stands…

Unable to upload screenshot from instagram showing layout of all the gates after completion of the MAN TP, as I have exceeded my allowance!
Please search for and follow Ringway reports.

Pier 2 going to saturated pretty soon after opening. Any, even slightest, indication if Pier 3 will ever be built? I think Pier 4, maybe in circa 30 years time lol!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
