Continued use of ground level as a short term stop-gap whilst final movements to T2 take place makes sense if that’s the plan. Surely moving all to departures A / security A must be the long term plan?! As well as being a more positive passenger experience, I’d assume more economical as well - less staff/equipment/heating/lighting cost? The more I think about this, the more logical it becomes to be honest.
The likes of Emirates, Etihad and Gulf Air as examples, are using T1 (until May I think?), then there won’t be room for both Ryanair and easyJet in the current level 5 departures and as Ryanair will have to be in place prior to June as this is the government deadline for the installation of new scanners, then it would make sense relocating easyJet to ground level check in until the remaining T1 airlines move to T2, then hopefully both Ryanair and EasyJet can use the departures A (level 5) check in area.
Just my thoughts…
