Sixteen flights a week, I think that's probably the most we have ever seen at CWL from Ryanair, let's hope they look at increasing their winter routes from CWL.

It is. Pre pandemic I believe they got up to 13 weekly.

Nation Cymru has published an article today on increased flights from Ryanair from CWL for summer 25, an airport spokesman says they will be operating 32 out and back flights, but the breakdown of flights on days they are operating, shows a total of 36 flights out and back. Is this a mistake by Nation Cymru, or something we have not yet been made aware of?

They've made a mistake with Tenerife. They seem to have TUI days not Ryanair.

Tomorrow will see the start of Ryanair biggest summer at Cardiff Airport up to 16 weekly departures with 5 destinations
🇮🇪Dublin 6 weekly
🇪🇸Malaga 4 weekly (June to September, 3 weekly April, May & October)
🇪🇸Alicante 3 weekly
🇵🇹Faro 2 weekly
🇮🇨Tenerife 1 weekly

Ryanair’s winter schedule is currently being uploaded for CWL.

The big takeaways:
- Dublin is running at 5 per week (an increase of 1pw)
- Alicante will run in the winter (3 per week).

I have a feeling Malaga might be extended into the winter, but that’s just a gut feeling.

That's really good news. It would be 9 weekly departures for Ryanair from Cardiff during the winter with Tenerife 1 weekly.

Dublin times are awful but hopefully they can be changed later on.

Yeah the Dublin times are a worry given how poorly the late night flights have performed in the past. Potential for a double daily maybe 😉

Someone pointed out that they did the same last year and changed the times. So fingers crossed that'll happen again.
And hopefully with 5 weekly in winter we'll see daily next summer!

Interesting that they seem to have that route loaded so far in advance.

Still pinning hopes on a S26 base. With increases across the 3 main non-domestic carriers (TUI, FR, VY) recently, i imagine money is being invested, which could lead to an FR base. Summer sees 16 weekly flights. 6 of them being fairly short DUB flights, so there would need to be an increase to warrant more.

At the very least some new non-based routes from FR could happen.

I think the challenge with a base will be the winter. Alicante might be a test to prove that. Hopefully we'll see more increases from Ryanair to get it over 20 weekly departures. Fingers crossed for PMI, increases on Alicante and Malaga and maybe even something like Barcelona or Paris?

Winter is a challenge for every airline. There's untapped markets at CWL that could fill a 1 aircraft base during winter.
ALC, AGP, FAO, DUB on less than 2.5 morning flights.
TFS, LPA, ACE, PFO, and maybe some city break routes, PRG, FCO, MXP

They did try Faro though in the winter but dropped it. I'm sure someone said it had an effect on their Bristol operation.
I do think Edinburgh could be a potential contender for a route but we'd have to a UK reg aircraft based here.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
