Anyone know why easyjet Paris outbound cancelled?

A technical issue with the landing gear after a grand slam arrival.

The Sun Express landed after a long hold.

We got off lightly this afternoon considering the strength of the wind. If tomorrow's forecast is accurate we are likely to see more disruption unfortunately.

Todays TAFs are calling for very strong winds which are likely going to cause issues not only at LBA but at MAN and LPL also

58 knot gusts between 20:00 and 24:00 at LBA and LPL and 55 knots at MAN. Varying degree of direction but generally more in favour of Manchester and Liverpool.

The weather is about to get nasty with a band of squally showers heading through and probably an uptick in the wind speed.

Seems last nights KL had two attempts at landing, then it looked to be diverting to NCL, but over Teesside it diverted back to AMS. The weather was bad at the tine at NCL but its strange they didnt go to MAN.

All Ryanairs diversions went to MAN. Jet2 used MAN, LPL and STN.

"In my 23 years of flying that was the worst approach I've ever flown. In all honesty I shouldn't have attempted it. Unless the individual is experienced I would recommend diverting. Even at 1000ft the crosswinds were 65kts"

It doesn't sound legal but I don't think it is fair for us to question the legality of the landing in this setting.

As I understand it aircraft crosswind limits apply at the point of touchdown. At 1000 feet, if the approach is stable, then the landing can continue. No doubt the pilot would have been well aware of the crosswind speed at ground level and would not have landed if the wind speed was above the limit. Plus the two aircraft behind (both Jet2) which landed within around 25 minutes both managed to get in.

Frankly, knowing what it was like here in Cookridge, hats off to any pilot that got in last night.

The KLM AMS/LBA appeared to be diverting to Newcastle and was at 14,000 feet and close to Teesside (which would have closed for the night by that stage as it was getting quite late). The storm was getting worse as it moved up from the Irish Sea. The KLM AMS/NCL had just diverted to Edinburgh, which must have had a bearing on the decision to get out of it by going back to Amsterdam. Hopefully they found hotel rooms for all the passengers at that hour!

Horrible squall passing through right now. How lovely it is up on PT Hill!

Update: Landed ok 2nd time

And even the ATR from BHD got in after a very brief detour. That's how quicky it's calmed down sufficiently. Sun out now (ISH) but still a bit breezy

For some reason, all the flights around that time, except perhaps the KLM, arrived in the LBA overhead at 8000 or 9000 then used a holding pattern to descend, rather than descend as they approached the Leeds area then straight on to the ILS. Presumably due to Scottish ATC not allowing the descent until East of the Pennines?
