If it is a copy and paste job, and if, as expected, the 300s have gone to the great scrapyard in the sky (better known as Kemble/St Athan), then it represents a decent capacity increase of 41 seats per ex 300 flight.

Oh in terms of capacity it’s probably decent increase. But scheduling, times, and frequencies per week - definitely copy & paste.

As usual, the city break destinations have not yet been released for Winter 2027, some/ most of these flight are usually operated by the 300s remember. Whilst some may rejoice at their retirement, it will be interesting to see what the route mix is from LBA after they go, I don’t doubt we could fill a couple more 800s to ALC and PMI per week but does the appetite exist locally for an 800 to PRG, BUD, FCO, BCN etc multiple times per week? And at a price that turns a profit for Jet2? The short Xmas market season usually keeps the 300s busy also, think CPH, BER, TLL. Is it realistic to expect an 800 to operate these flights and make money? I hope so!!

Good to see you posting again @YorkshirePud It is my understanding that the city breaks actually preform well so I would think there's every reason to expect most routes to continue as they were. I would expect some year by year variation anyway.

I think the ability to sell up to 189 but regularly getting 160-170 during Christmas season indicates they can do it.

It could be that it takes some time to get loads regularly above 175 on city routes or it could take no time at all. Only people with that market information is Jet2.

Do I suspect we will get any frequency increases in city routes from LBA? Doubtful with an increase of seats.

Rome - an example where Jet2 use the 800 in the winter season and a 300 in summer. Regularly year round 800 probably will sell well.

A few years back, Rome was an 800 in summer but not available in winter.

If the 300’s are so important for Jet2 why don't they buy a few used A319’s?

I’m pretty sure the B738 uses only marginally more fuel than the B733 so even selling only slightly more than they would on a B733 would make the routes just as worthwhile. Also judging by the fact that Jet2 operate at a healthy margin means there is a bit of extra leeway

I have no doubt that all the routes they operate could perform well on a B738, even routes like JER

Well they use the 738 on their other JER routes, so I am sure that will be perfectly doable from LBA too.

All this supports VH's narrative that increased pax numbers can be achieved without the need for as many extra stands because larger aircraft are being used. Still to some degree at the mercy of geopolitical events though that may continue to throw a small spanner in the works, especially for The Mechanic at DSA 🤣

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
