Even more possibly as the new routings also include climbing faster without levelling off. But as I said, if that routing happens, the gateway at Burley/Menston means any right turn would be between there and Ilkley and that would take them round the back of Otley over open countryside as they climb South East.

Monarch Summer 2017 flights on sale tomorrow. Wonder if LBA will see any nice surprises? Fingers crossed.

Monarch have released Summer 2017 flights. As far as I can see there's little change, probably playing safe with the state of play after the referendum.

Pretty much as expected. It will be interesting to see if they base 1x A321 at LBA in addition to an A320 as previously rumoured.

Full network wide programme for Summer 2017 from LGW, LTN, BHX, MAN and LBA is not fully released yet, Its only 90% so far with some new routes to be announced over the next few months, wither this includes LBA I don't know....

You never know what might happen. We might see some growth as I understand Monarch are leasing 3x Boeing 737-800's next year so to start the Airbus crew conversion training for when the new Boeing 737-Maxes arrive in 2018.

Dose anyone know if something's happening with Monarch or one of the many UK Tour operators it connected to operate flights for?
As the following 2 post have just been posted on the Monarch Birmingham thread which make for interesting reading.

Lots of chatter on various forums that Monarch are on the verge of ceasing operations

The CAA wouldn't be paying for 5 aircraft, (3 UA 1 Omni and 1 Air Transat) to be in position ready to fly pax home on baseless rumours. Somethings up, that's for sure.....

I'm wondering if it could be that one of the UK independent Tour Operators might have gone bust or whom the CAA think might be going into administration very shortly.. eg "On the Beach", "Teletext holidays, Olympic Holidays, Cosmos or one of the many others whom are all ATOL bonded but tend to use scheduled flights.

If the said company has not paid the airlines (eg Monarch) to carry its passengers home it then would be down to the CAA to repatriate these said customers using charter flights.. Hence the need for these 5+ aircraft been brought over the pond to help out?

Something is definitely going on, I am currently in teneriffe and there are letters being put up for English pax in the hotel but no mention of a particular airline just to report to reception in the morning

I'm thinking along the same lines.

Someone I know works at EGNM and he's been saying for the past month now, that Monarch have gone bust. He seems adamant that this is the case, no matter how much I say that monarch are fine and have daily scheduled flights etc. I did some dummy booking's with monarch for 2017 and they're showing up. But it looks like he could be right...

I think we should tread carefully with this rumour. Similar "rumours" brought down FlyGlobespan if I remember correctly. It is important not to spread this unsubstantiated rumour as it will only serve to knock consumer confidence in the airline. If the airline says things are fine we need to accept that.

Globe span going under was nothing to do 'rumours', it was pure fraud in my opinion where the credit/debit card handling company were not passing on the funds to globe span.

Company can't operate with little funds coming in.

The fact that the airline has sent out a strong message to the contrary as well as continuing flights should calm the situation to some extent. Furthermore, it should be pointed out that the airline made a profit last year showing that it is in a position of relative strength. The idea that one of the third party tour operators who buy seats on Monarch flights being the problem seems more likely, as has been pointed out. However, the loss of any of the tour operators working with the airline will obviously have a very immediate impact on revenue.

Additionally, I have long since had my suspicions about the parent company. Earlier this year, they put the "M" brand into administration having run it into the ground with the safety net of the guaranteed rent condition on the sale contract. Furthermore, they openly stated they were looking for investment and a buyer for Monarch having hired Deutsche Bank to "Explore Strategic Opportunities". In any other world, when a business openly states they require £35m of investment, it is not normally good news. Greybull also has a recent history of buying up other ailing companies for a nominal fee with little risk, stripping the assets and then placing them into administration when no buyer is forthcoming. Think about the hangar situation at MAN....

Then there is the completely unfathomable decision to completely replace the entire fleet with brand new aircraft which would suggest that, on the face of it, the business is in a good place and there is a good plan for the future. Looking at it cynically, one could say that, until the planes are built and in the air in Monarch colours, it is just the number 30 on a form. This might look good to a potential buyer or investor but it just doesn't make sense to commit an airline with a rocky recent financial performance to a multi billion pound order - one that would also require a full crew retraining/overhaul. Surely the sensible thing would be to consolidate and offer growth where appropriate and order new aircraft after a prolonged period of financial stability.

I'm sure the truth about the situation will out shortly and I hope that it is not bad news for the airline but enough people have seen and heard enough information to be extremely concerned.

Jimmi, I share your concerns about Greybull and their track record. They were also involved in the demise of the Comet electrical chain. Hope that it isn't bad news.

Anyone know where the 2 night stopping aircraft have been Parked tonight?

Are they parked on remote stands where they could be impounded easier without causing problems?

Asking this question as I hear that aircraft are been Parked remote at Manchester and been meet by staff/engineers with statement due sometime in the early hours.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
