This is the reason the NAX bases are likely to be off for MAN/BHX/EDI, as it's looking likely that the licences to operate to the USA won't be granted.

Like I've tried to say,

However you said on the MAN thread just yesterday that you thought the base for MAN was back on, details to follow. Im just going to wait for official announcements about this, im sure Tom Screen @ BHX will confirm to one of us via email the exact position. He is normally open and honest with his emails to people.

I thought there would have been a last minute reprieve as MAN went all out to stop the base being pulled, but, then that link came through last night, so, it seems it doesn't matter what MAN/BHX/EDI to to tempt Norwegian, not a lot they can do if they are physically not allowed to operate the routes.

I bet Ireland are also quite angry that they might not get the Irish AOC bases on Brexit, meaning Cork and Shannon can't get their routes either.

Thanks for the info, well we can say goodbye to flights to the USA with Norweigan then for the forseeable future. My only concern with this is that they will never come back and go elsewhere if the UK is not quick with its BREXIT negotiations.

Well, with today's news that BOJO isn't going for PM, Theresa May is now the front runner, and has already said she will not persue an exit of the EU. Even if a General election was held, there isn't another possible leader that would trigger article 50 so, it seems like we are staying now, and we can continue business as normal.

I have mentioned previously that the referendum was advisory in nature and not binding on the Government however to ignore the will of the plebiscite would invite such serious consequences that no politician can ever say their seat in parliament is safe.

Candidate May shall have to call an election , subject to the provisions of the fixed term parliaments act and may become the shortest incumbent at No. 10!

Whatever results from leadership elections, the Government only can trigger article 50 and only Parliament can approve the outcome of treaty withdrawal and if UK Parliament rejects the motion, we remain subject to EU membership.

In addition, the European Parliament must pass the final treaty of withdrawal.

Brexit is the political TriAthlon and I may well be dead before the final outcome becomes clear.

If you haven't already done so, JENNYJET, you might be interested in having a look at the thread entitled UK Referendum, how will you vote.

There is a current discussion that to some extent mirrors your suggestions.

Norwegian has already issued a response to the motion filed by the US "Labor Parties".

https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=DOT-OST-2015-0261-0026

It was only ever a motion by a few unhappy unions, don't know why some here are treating it as a DOT ruling and the end of the world? As Norwegian point out the labour parties are simply speculating on the future state of UK-US aviation agreements and using that as grounds to deny an application now.

Through any UK-EU negotiation period open skies still apply (and may well continue to apply afterward) and I don't see under what grounds a permit could be denied to a UK AOC holder as of now.

They have only denied an exemption authority, which is a temporary permission to begin operations while they wait for the full foreign air carrier permit to be processed, on the grounds that there are significant public interest issues regarding employment practices that need to be examined.

The exemption is only given in clear cut-and-dry cases where there is no opposition or issues with the air carrier.

But it's hardly a good sign is it Ash? It makes you wonder how easy the licence will be when it comes, they only have 3 organisations in support, yet a queue of people against their permits.

Yes I agree it's not a good sign and is likely to be a long drawn out legal process. DOT quotes a 30-60 day processing time for the permit where there are no objections or bilateral/policy issues, so it is likely to be significantly longer as each of those parties get their say.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
