The above news item has been confirmed as tosh.

It is a new policy to seat families together instead of chances of them being split up, not segregate sexes as suggested.

I wouldn't put it passed an airline from the Middle East doing something like that.

Saudi likely to use the B787-900 from MAN from Feb 2016

The Saudia B787-900 is now confirmed on their website from 27th March 2016.

Daily flights are also expected from May 2016, but. They are analysing the dispatch reliability of the B787 before the increase is confirmed.

Saudia have confirmed an increase in Manchester flights, with the addition of a 5th weekly flight from 7th Sept. B787-9 still used.

New flights are on Wednesdays.

Saudia advert introducing the B787 to Manchester, Paris, Istanbul and Casablanca. Note the interesting route drawn between Manchester and Riyadh.....

Tacit confirmation of the mooted route to Riyhad? I don't suppose you've heard any snippets about frequency or timing?

Or possibly reversion to a double-drop operation MAN-Jeddah-Riyadh as the original Saudia service used to be several years ago?

The first Saudi B789 is supposed to be due on Easter sunday, dose anyone know if its still operating or is it a B777. I see Saudi have been upgrading their last few flights to an B77W so if loads are high i cant see it happening.

I was wondering as Saudia is adding a fifth weekly flight soon - does anyone know the load factors for the MAN-JED flights?

In addition to this do many passengers connect to Saudias fairly extensive network ex. JED or are most of them o&d?

Have there been any further rumours regarding Riyadh apart from the picture User001 posted above? Dobbo also put this in his long haul review recently.

Saudia and Oman Air have signed a codeshare agreement on flights to/from Muscat to Medina, Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah although I can't see MAN pax travelling to MCT and then effectively back tracking or using SV via JED to get to MCT.

Routesonline has put this out. Deliberately left the LHR revision as I am shocked that our frequency nearly matches theirs.

Jeddah – London Heathrow
Operational aircraft changes to 6 weekly 3-class 777-300ER (77W) and 1 weekly 2-class -300ER (773)
Jeddah – Manchester 5th weekly service, to be introduced from Sep 2016, will be maintained on/after 30OCT16

It is great that we now have a five weekly service - all we need now is RUH!

Just looking on the new routes page of MAN's website:

Saudi Airlines launches five times weekly route to Jeddah
From 7th September 2016 Saudia Airlines will fly five times a week to Jeddah. The increase is from a four weekly departure to five per week. Saudia Airlines operate the B777 Dreamliner aircraft from Manchester.

777 Dreamliner? 777 Dreamliner? Didn't know Boeing had manufactured another aircraft - quite a low key launch I suppose. They should get that sorted out... ;)

Most people will not know the difference.

Yes I suppose just putting 'dreamliner' would be the recognisable thing to most people.
