The addition of Orly brings the number of new routes/services for next year to 37, which I believe beats this year?

Obviously most of those come from Jet2 but there is a nice sprinkling from elsewhere.

Blue Air - 1
Fly One - 1
Jet2 - 22
Monarch - 1
Ryanair - 4
Thomas Cook - 3
Thomson - 4
Vueling - 1

Those are the amount of new routes so far, however, there is plenty more to come (y)
Orly is a good place to connect to the Caribbean.

Didn't want to bump the Blue Air thread but Constanta is showing in the drop down menu of destinations from BHX (although BHX isn't showing in the drop down menu from Constanta) and Iasi has been removed.

Glasgow and Liverpool are also showing in the Constanta drop down menu but I only get an error message when I try and search for flights.

I know the Blue Air website isn't a very reliable source but they have already announced some new Constanta routes for S17, so hopefully this means they're expanding further and adding new UK routes from there too?

Constanta has been on the drop down menu before as a coach transfer from Bucharest (Brasov is also listed). It disappeared for a time although it's now back just without the 'coach transfer'. What is interesting this time is that it lists the full name of the airport, Constanța - Mihail Kogălniceanu, which it didn't before.

Looking at the schedules on the website it shows a journey time of 7 hours and 45 minutes which suggests a connection. What is odd is that the only connection would be through Cluj but the days are different. On the face of it I'd say it's a coach connection from Bucharest but would love to be proven wrong :)

some interesting website things happening which could be nothing but could also be something...

Norwegian. All their Gran Canaria Flights are showing at £449 on-way from march throughout the entire summer. Obviously this is a temporary glitch but often means the site is being updated, for better or worse?

Vueling. Their route map only shows BHX to BCN, ALC and AGP and does not show TFS and ORY (MAN is the same only showing mainland spain routes)... again, could indeed be a sign of things being updated and hopefully changed for the better!

The Vueling route map seems to have glitches at the moment, so for BHX-ORY/TFS, you have to click on the other end of the route. It's been doing it for a few months.

I have to admit, if the BACF rumours are true, I think that's incredible. A weekend E190 isn't exactly the biggest investment BHX has seen, but to have the airline that carries our country's flag back at BHX (in any capacity, even if it's their subsidiary), is very exciting. (y)(y)

I know 'BA @ BHX' is a very controversial topic, and many argue that we don't need them (a fair point); but I have to admit that I would love to have their presence return. Plus, it could be a sign for more to come. BACF landed at Stansted last year, and they're slowly but surely adding more routes and frequencies. Also, if such rumours are true, it could be a sign that BA are willing to test the waters here at BHX, and that there may be more to come...

Here is some pure speculation on this.

I read elsewhere that BA is going to axe it's A318 services between JFK and LCY and they are looking for another use for these aircraft, the only A318s they operate.

Given that AA have proven that there is a certain amount of demand between JFK and BHX could BA relocate these aircraft to BHX?

Consider that JFK is a level 3 slot constrained airport and BA may not want to give up these slots.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
