But there are so many flaws in what you say?
You've seen the reports etc but neither you nor WYCA can say how much a line to the new terminal would cost? That's all I'm asking.
You say cost benefit doesn't stack up but the cost of Parkway has tripled (so cost/benefit massively reduced)...
So let's all drive to Manc to take flights creating surface pollution eh Alex? And while we're at it buy or rent property near the airport then complain about its wholly predicted growth!
Sorry know we're covering old ground but it's you doesn't seem to get it. Yes the direct rail study was conducted by experts but years ago and to a different location, elevation and distance.
If I was making an investment decision at work on their basis I'd be sacked for gross misconduct...
If you look at recent WYCA minutes from last couple months they were progressing it to full business case (lots of detail there).
Quietly the cost has ballooned to £42m.
Meanwhile they continue to refuse to evaluate any other option in light of this increased cost and revised terminal location.
I may be wrong but I'd suspect often for this type of development it would be more typical to see more objections and very few supporters... Driven mainly as said above by the silent majority who don't feel the need to support.
I think this overwhelmingly shows how badly the terminal upgrade is...
The YEP have now published positive letters on their Web page as an article...
But I've yet to see them tweet about it like they did with the negative one.
Also the negative one was their main website story but the positive one seems hidden away...
The infuriating thing is if you buy a house near to the flight path, you essentially benefit from a discount priced into your house for the inconvenience. To then complain when you chose to live near the airport knowingly taking said discount is disingenuous.
The comments on official LBA Facebook page overwhelmingly positive...
As for local Facebook groups... NIMBYETIBAHNA
Not in my back yard even though I bought a house near airport
To make supportive comments for the terminal;
Go to https://publicaccess.leeds.gov.uk/online-applications/
Then search for 20/02559/FU
Then go to comments (need to register)
Wouldn't get too excited just yet... I'd think most of the cost/process was already done pre Covid implications... There was probably little benefit to halt the process now... Wouldn't necessarily take it as a sign of imminent construction... Exciting next step nonetheless
My initial thoughts
1. Everyone needs to make a comment of support, this is going to get a lot of NIMBYETIBAHNA opposition letters (not in my back yard even though I bought a house near airport). You do this via the Leeds council public access site
2. Main terminal looks stunning but let down...
OK to be clear then I posted it because I'm told time and again a £80-£100m direct rail link doesn't make financial sense at LBA (vs £40m+ Parkway), yet it seems a £300m direct link to far less popular DSA can be justified.
Shortsightedness, lack of ambition and an attitude of good enough will...
