Looks like we've got two 777-200 size aircraft using the airbridges, and a resident airline becomes an Airbus only operator

there not 777-200 size planes! id say a321 max in size lol in the images I also like how they have taken out some of the grassed areas around the taxiways to create more parking space. What an airport LBA is! yest i was abit low following the Ryanair cuts then today high following the terminal plans, always excitement!

I'll compromise and say 787's - look at the wings, and the wheels indicate a boogey 4 wheel which is 787 hahah!

im sure a 787 would look bigger than that or maybe its the grand new terminal behind that makes them look abit smaller lol but lets agree on a 787 then you never know they might be tui 787 planes, now that really would be a dream! haha

Shows the commitment they have to the airport and they are serious about making a success of it in my opinion. Loving the new pictures with what looks like 2 air bridges which can become 4 depending on the aircraft size on stand

Wouldn't get too excited just yet... I'd think most of the cost/process was already done pre Covid implications... There was probably little benefit to halt the process now... Wouldn't necessarily take it as a sign of imminent construction... Exciting next step nonetheless

Its also interesting how the application has gone in without any sort of delay as well, to me that shows AMP are keen. Extra parking stands away from the new terminal as well in the designs!

I've read one objection and one support. One lives directly under RWY 32/14 flight path, the other lives in the vicinity of the flight path however you only hear aircraft for around 30 seconds.

One read they would object due to noise created, creating more traffic around the local area.
The other says they bought the house in the knowledge that the airport would grow and are fully supportive.

I'll let you guess which one is which.

Been having a quick scan through the layouts and plans it's going to be so much better and should have a better passenger flow nice to see the stands in front of the terminal are marked for aircraft types E as well as C.
I'm unfamiliar with planning application process what happens now its submitted?

If they can get this approved quickly then now would be the perfect time to get started. The economy is at rock bottom and we need to get the construction sector well and truly moving again. The sad thing is that it will probably take years to get the levels of aviation activity back to where they were in Summer 2019...assuming they ever do.

Yesterday's doom and gloom financial figures showed a contraction in the economy.

The economy didn't contract at all because it was put to sleep. The next lot of figures will look even worse but again the figures will be artificially negative.

Let's get to the point where we can reopen everything again and then look at the measurements.

Youre right the economy is in the deep freeze..it is not dead and buried.The figures I ignore, as they only show the temperature actually in the freezer. Once some sort of normality returns then the lifeblood will start to flow, cash will change hands and the figures rapidly improve. The downside is that we are all going to have to chuck a bit more into the pot, which will be the price of supporting our fellow mankind while they were on their knees. Its at this point the business brave have to make their decisions. Those who go for it will prosper. If AMP are in this group then we`ll see the diggers in action relatively soon. Here`s hoping

On the facebook groups that are local to LBA views are very mixed as per usual with positive and negative comments, im trying my best guys to give out all the positives the new terminal will create on FB. Makes me laugh how you get the negative ones but yet there still prepared to go on holiday driving their polluting cars all the way to Manchester airport!

I think you`ll find that the Officers of the Council when taking note of objections/in favour won`t look at social media. They would be very unwise to do so. It mostly consists of frothing mad loonies, very often frothing from made up/fake identities. If you make your claims of support in a calm reasoned way via the official channels we will be listened to and note taken of our support. Half of these ranters can`t string 2 sentences together let alone spell....

Beware that it says you will be timed out after 1 hour but I was timed out just as I was checking my letter, after 25 minutes. Fortunately, when I logged back in, it had retained all I had written and I was able to send it.

Worth bearing in mind that its one comment for one voter. Don't write on behalf of you wives or husbands or grown up kids, get them to do something separately, even if they say little and just indicate they are supporting the application.

For what its worth, in the current crisis, Leeds Council would be completely off their trolleys to say no to an investment like this. Few companies, if any, will be wanting to invest £150m right now, particularly in aviation. It will give the City of Leeds and Leeds City Region a real kick start for something like this to be built, whether it starts late this year or later. If they say no, they may as well just give up. I think that in the new world of aviation, airlines will be even more picky about which airports they serve and much will depend on the facilities they have on offer - and space is now going to be a key factor. Something the current terminal doesn't have at all. Imagine baggage re-claim with a 2m distance requirement between people? Well I can't.

Brilliant point. A UK economy going through the motions of deep recession caused by a once in a hundred year global event. Turning down £150 million would be foolish.

Worth noting that governments usually start infrastructure projects, when economies need push starting. This would be a perfect catalyst for the wider Leeds region economy post-covid
