I was reading one of the other objection comments and the person said the money should be spent on other things. Are these people for real? The money isn't coming from public coffers it's privately funded. I dispare!

An email I sent to the YEP this afternoon;

Dear YEP, as a huge supporter of LBA, I wish to convey my backing for the proposal to construct a new environmentally sensitive terminal facility at the Yeadon site. The job creation and additional business and tourist opportunities it would create should be promoted. This airport has huge potential but through decades of underinvestment, has failed to deliver the services and job opportunities the people of Yorkshire so richly deserve. Quieter, cleaner aircraft have a diminishing environmental impact and through LBA offering more services, huge numbers of polluting car journeys to the other side of the Pennines can be minimised. For goodness sake, let us support this ambitious project that will benefit the region for decades to come.

Yours supportingly

Mr Stuart Hodge

It’s the one thing that really gets me when people don’t understand the difference between public and private sector spending.

If you read the comments on many pages YEP, LeedsList etc any new development proposed in the the city centre, often high rise towers the same mutants constantly slag off the council demanding the money to be spend on solving the housing crisis...

:wtf:

They are sadly the same uneducated people that think, living in no where near the Airport or Airport Traffic (e.g. Central/East Leeds) and objecting to the airport "because it causes more traffic". When in actual fact it is the constant underfunding of infrastructure since the 1980's that has caused traffic to rise, the persistence to continue building new houses in these areas that adds more traffic, and the constant LCC bottleneck of roadworks.

Ok just a slight critique on the most up to date design.

The Pier looks to have been value engineered somewhat with the removal of glass, especially overlooking the airfield!? I am quite concerned this could become a rather long dark and dingy corridor in years to come.

Also just possibly a slight ocd but, I feel if the bus station was at the same angle as the terminal It would look better and more importantly it should be connected with a covered walkway. No good getting soaked running to and from the building!

:wtf:

Looking back over the last 15 years of retirement I remember I inspected many of the roads round the airport and routes leading to it. I was amazed at the A658 in particular that the more of the traffic was heading past the Airport and very little actually went to it.
Times varied from 4am to 7pm and all days. The early times allowed me to walk on the carriageways when most people were in bed. Between say 6 and 7.30 most traffic to the airport was taxis, and very little else.

Various road surveys have also confirmed only a small proportion of traffic on the A658 is airport related. Yet another red herring spun to make the airport into something terrible.

Whilst the odd few of these objectors may be genuine and understand the issues being raised, I`ll wager that the majority are as thick as mince and twice as dense sheeples. Just because they are educated doesn`t mean they are intelligent!!

Quite a few more objections to support comments on today - everyone get your partners/parents/kids/friends with email address to sign up and drop a support comment.. (write it on their behalf if needs must) ...

Text just sent to a mate of mine asking him to put a support message on the site! As it happens he had never flown in an aircraft so last year me and him did one of the cheap Ryanair flights to Dublin and spent a days plane spotting there!

I have just secured another couple of support letters this morning and 4 or 5 commitments to do so. Please keep pestering anyone you know who uses or supports LBA. So many who support it tend to assume it will just happen. We need to make it difficult for Leeds Council to consider anything other than approval.

Incidentally, LCC will probably expect more opposition than support as that is the norm with airports, so lets do all we can to surprise them!

I'm on it with friends, family and colleagues.

One point is that I'll really go to town on just how bad the facilities are today compared with similar regional airports (NCL/BRS etc) so don't take it personally LBA. To balance the argument I'll point out how this can all be rectified with the proposed new terminal at zero / minimal cost to the tax payer.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
