I was under the impression that the current terminal will now remain and be converted to non passenger use. I may be wrong, White Heather may have more information on this.
The old terminal will remain in the short term until a new control tower is in place, but the intention remains that it is demolished eventually. I am pretty sure that is included in the planning application too.

Just logged into the airport planning application for its new terminal development and the seems to have been a lot of objections submitted today. I would strongly advise all members to add you own comments in support.

Its very easy to do just log onto the following website

I can't understand  why the environmentalists do not support this. Building a new "Eco-friendly" Terminal instead of extending a "Non Eco-friendly" one.

Because A) that is the limit of their intelligence B) They are like sheep and follow where they are told to which brings us back to point A

A fairly balanced report on BBC look north this eve regarding the new terminal planned at LBA, the report also looked at the effects of the corona virus and air travel.
Unusually positive for the BBC. No complaints from me on that report. It concentrated on the airport and not on NIMBYs, Tree Huggers, or alleged Environmentalists.

Because they see the new terminal as the key to more flights, more noise, more pollution and all that stuff. They know that without it, LBA will never grow further, which is more in line with their overall intention. LBA to just die and go away altogether ideally.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
