That's what I dont understand how they can do it! theres so much more objections now and most of the support has probably been pledged, it's a disgrace to be honest once a date is set that should be that!!! Too late to respond tuff!!

What ever happens, we can all hold our heads up high with doing all we can to support this. Personally I’ve generated 25 positive support letters Through family and friends possibly accounting to more as I informed everyone I know to pass it on.

Why do I get the same feeling my uncle once had in 1975 at Le Parc des Princes... are we really getting shafted here!!? :banghead:

:wtf:

The arguments both for and against have been made so what’s the point of allowing even more time for them to be repeated ad nauseam? Yes, it’s a political hot potato they’d probably rather not have but instead of delaying the decision LCC just need to get on with it and make it.

I think what we need to bare in mind also is that it is so much easier for objection comments then support.. all ER & the green freaks have to do is post the links countrywide to drum up for objections and they all jump on the bandwagon, like they will have done at BRS & LHR..

its so much harder to get local support & countrywide support on these matters. you can guarantee the majority of people who fly from LBA will 100% agree it needs a new terminal, but it doesn't mean they're going to go on to log on and support.

I mean there is nothing to stop you posting a second support comment if you wanted to raise new/different issues, maybe worth a try.

makes me laugh people protesting about the noise/living under the flight path when they moved there in the first place, knowing the airport was around long before them... and what confuses me is to how they're saying over 100,000 people more will be disrupted by the noise of more A/C.. well how? same flight paths and most likely same number of flights for a good few years.. i see no difference.

overall if LCC don't pass this development then the city itself is laughable and I bet MAN are watching over the hill & laugh if it gets rejected.. its a complete no brainer. people DONT want to fly from MAN and a city and economy the size of Leeds should not have to put up with the terminal it currently has.

Leeds City Council recently reported it was considering having to go bankrupt due to the covid-19 crisis. On the basis of around 1000 jobs per 1m passengers that is potentially 4000 people who are currently furloughed. 4000 people with mortgages to pay and 4000 people who pay council tax, many who will live within the Leeds boundary. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Not to get political - but i find that Leeds City Council is one of the poorly ran Councils, if not the most poorly ran council, in the UK.

But then that is to do with the system as a whole re: Councillors pay etc which is a UK wide problem and not a LCC local issue.

It almost feels like someone in LCC has asked how many comments of opposition and support have been logged and then said the gap isn't big enough. Give ER another 3 weeks (so they have had 6 extra weeks now) even though they knew this was coming in February and sat on their backsides doing nothing until the application was logged - then they start crying that they didn't have enough time to gather all their phoney evidence together because they are all so busy - during lockdown too, when most of them were probably sat at home doing nothing. It makes my blood boil.

The thing is - I have personally been through this when at school over the failed attempt to extend the runway, when LBA nearly closed altogether. It would probably have gone to Church Fenton then had the RAF allowed it but they wouldn't. Then again, I took part in the Public Inquiry back in the late 80s/early 90s (I think) which was the first attempt to secure 24 hour operations again - something they lost when they finally got the runway in 1984. Typical of round here - 'OK yes you can have a longer runway but to make up for it, you have to go home and shut up shop at 10pm'. Give with one hand, take away with the other and set the airport back years. And then again when we finally got the 24 hour operations through in the mid 90s. Each time I feel like I have aged considerably as it stops me sleeping at night, such is the strength of my feeling and anger at the anti airport groups. What angers me most is that they get away with circulating their total nonsense and are given time of day.

So, if this is rejected then as I am not getting any younger, I don't think I am going to go through all this angst again. I will be so disgusted with LCC that I might well just up and leave the city I have lived in for almost 66 years and I never thought I would do that, but such a decision would be a total embarrassment.

Very true. In a wiered way, I find them to be akin to village jobsworth. It took them years to decide on building the arena. Manchester tries to grow like a major global city, we just do nothing......... and maybe dig up roads to add cycle lanes..

Pathetic.

Do we know a reason for it being extended again? Maybe if someone could contact management and find out if possible? Maybe get an opinion/reassurance off them? Most likely keep their cards close to their chest though..

another thought is for the airport to send another email promoting LBA-NQY with another push for terminal support, would be no harm in that.

surely if this gets rejected (which at the time will most likely the most expensive development in the region) after the Covid-19 there must be a up raw..

lba and leeds could/need to be a region where others in the UK / Europe look up to and aspire to be like.

It just doesnt make sense. In a way LCC would be a major stakeholder in the airport, and the development of Leeds, and the wider region. Why shoot themselves in the foot. It was only a few months ago the council was singing about needing "to think outside the box".

Exactly, a few post back I put something similar on here that I think you liked White Heather.

I honestly feel the same as you! How you’ve done this for the time you have is remarkable... I hope fingers crossed to have the option (possibly put back due covid-19) to move over the hill should this decision go against the airport.

It sounds incredible but, it’s either that or giving up aviation altogether. I feel so strongly about this, if it’s not passed the distress it will cause will be too much.

I’ve done all I can Including correcting endless waves of stupid comments on fb YEP, T&A, Leeds List...

It’s not just the airport with me obviously that’s my number one, but with LCC you have so many failures on transport. Over the hill they make the right calls.

I love Leeds but the council are backwards!

:wtf:

It’s so they can reject it easier. They are bottleless sods who will hide primarily behind the objection comments the same way they did with the link road.
The link road that is still needed for all the houses they keep allowing to be built around the Aireborough area. I honestly think LCCs only idea of city planning is a quick one hour training on the SimCity game because they seem to make a hash of everything. SuperTram, TrollyBus or whatever scheme they plan, whatever project they look at they fail miserably. The only thing they ever got right was the Leeds Arena but that was paid for using money from the sale of LBA. Unbelievable.

Well here is the official reason given by LCC. Words fail me.

Leeds Bradford Airport planning application update released today:

“Many people have raised the legitimate concern that the number and complexity of documents attached to the application, combined with the global pandemic we all face, present a considerable challenge to the public trying to make informed comments on the application.

Because of this we have extended the end of formal consultation until 7th July. This will give a total of over 9 weeks for submission of comments since the application was validated. Like all local authorities, Leeds City Council has a legal obligation to consider planning applications put before it and this extended deadline balances the need for the Council to make a decision in a timely manner whilst ensuring the public have the opportunity to make their comments.

Although this date is a revised deadline for formal responses to allow work to progress in a timely manner in line with national guidance on planning performance, any comments received after July 7th will still be fed into the planning process and given consideration.”

So basically - doesn't matter what you say, as objection comments will continue to fall in alongside the very small % of the support comments and they will be considered.

As i've stated - this council is the worst council in the UK. Has to be for a city our size.

How much time do they want, its not a bloody science exam, its text and some well detailed diagrams! 11 weeks of lockdown and people still need time to study the info, really!! took me around 2-3hrs as someone who is interested, Its going beyond madness! :banghead:

If we listen to the ER clap trap we may as well object to every single application going into Leeds City Council on the grounds of co2 and climate change.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
