There is only one Support Group which I co-founded in the late 80s. It always did work with the airport to ensure anything we did or said, did not cross any lines. We are perfectly ok having a fight with GALBA in the press but ultimately it won't sway the decision of the 12 members of the plans panel. At this late stage we need to take action where it will be most effective. After next week we will hopefully know what that is.
Statto, your support is much valued. My post was just to let you know that action is planned.

Am I to assume there is another Airport Committee meeting scheduled for next week, WH?
There was one scheduled but it's been cancelled. The chair took the view it was nugatory in the circumstances so the next one is in February now, baby which time the future of LBA and the situation with aviation will hopefully be much clearer . I was intending to put a post on the CC thread just to let members know but will do so now.

On the LCC Planning site there is a revision note and amended and additional drawings submitted by LBA in response to queries from LCC Highways concerns. They cover Viking car park, Electric/ H2 car refuelling, improved footpath, cycling, Whitehouse Lane junctions, landscaping and dedicated Parkway shuttle bus access off Whitehouse Lane into terminal.

The council are demanding huge amounts of clarification and detail - let's hope it's not all for nothing come mid January.
I know you have in depth project skills and experience WH, like me, and I am getting the feeling that the Council Officers are going the extra mile to cover off any legal or regulatory issues that have or may be raised by the Planning Panel “experts”. I would also have expected there to have been some behind-the-scene nudges form other councils and council leadership regardless of party politics. This is a once in a lifetime offer of such wide ranging benefits, that also addresses improvements in environmental impacts, I fail to see it being blocked but may find the ditherers on the Planning Committee members abstaining or grudgingly supporting it with palatable caveats attached that LBA will accept.

Yes that was my job pre retirement and it does seem that way. I sincerely hope you are correct. If it was a dead duck you would have to wonder why they bother. Even at this late stage they are asking for more detail and for revisions to issues that would be academic if it's refused. However it could be a case of ensuring all the t's are crossed and i's dotted in case it is refused and goes to appeal.

Well, it's looks like Santa is maybe coming to town early bearing gifts. £4Bn available for projects in the North of England which offer "clear benefit to the region" and have be delivered during the lifetime of this current conservatie government.

So does anyone fancy doing a dear Rishi letter? think we could do with some of that funding for our new Terminal Development, new Apron Extension, Parkway Rail Station, oh pritty please can we have a new link road too.

Honestly. They moan when we don't get any investment from the South...but when we get perfectly good projects with the promise of major investment, they just do everything possible to stop it using the environmental joker card to back up their cases.

More anti airport banter in the Wharfedale Observer. The person defending the airport could do with some 'likes' in the comments section.

Another NIMBY disguised as caring about the environment. More than happy to push people to Manchester Airport and all the extra emissions the journey creates on the M62 as long as it’s not on their doorstep.

I’ve noticed a lot of those who are associated to GALBA and the likes refer to Manchester as the airport for the north, the north’s hub airport and now an A Team of international airports. Completely undermines their climate arguments.

Given the Chancellor’s gloomy forecast for the economy extending for at least 5 years if not more and his determination to use infrastructure projects to prevent things getting even worse, targeting the North for investment, let’s hope the economic argument for the new terminal is now such that LCC have to accept it. This might explain the seemingly increasing desperation of the anti-airport lobby.

Sorry if already reported but expiry date updated from 30/11 to 15/1 not sure what that means for the process...

Regarding negatively publicity having no impact on the panel I'm not so sure... Look how easily the Labour MPs were swayed based on incorrect arguments in the press...
It means that the date for the decision is 14 January, when there is a plans panel meeting. They have to make a decision by the 15th.

We were told yesterday that the decision date has been set as the 14th so presumably a meeting specifically relating to LBA.
Do you know if the meeting will be streamed live online?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
