These climate fanatics are more dangerous than the climate itself. It has become a religion and people are being brainwashed by these fanatics.

The amount of co2 in Earth's atmosphere is around 0.04% of all gases. Human activity only contributes a tiny percentage towards the 0.04%. The co2 argument is taken totally out of proportion given the amount of other naturally occurring gases and water vapour in the atmosphere that equally have the ability to alter the weather.

Of course, lets plant more trees, lets recycle more and let's use global resources sensibly as it is the right thing to do but stop blaming co2 the life giving gas that is required for plants and crops to grow.

Well if the Government do reject the application on “green” grounds it will be the height of hypocrisy seeing they’re currently negotiating a trade deal with Australia which would see frozen meat (threatening home produced meat) transported half way across the world in ships fuelled by heavily polluting fuel oil. CO2 emissions from shipping are double those from aviation and are increasing far more rapidly.

LBA Support Group Statement on (GALBA) petition to the Secretary of State.

May 21st 2021

We are aware that 3 Student teenagers from Wakefield representing the “Group for action on Leeds Bradford Airport (GALBA) have today handed in a petition to the Communities & housing Secretary, MP Robert Jenrick. In that petition they claim to have over 54,000 signatures backing support to call in the planning application and hold an expensive public inquiry. We believe all they really want to do is further disrupt, dither and delay Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) new £150 million Terminal building development.

LBA Support Group Spokesperson Ross Bailey said;
Where on earth did all these “protesters” come from? We LBA Support Group suggest this is not all anti LBA “per se” but a conference put together nationally from Extinction Rebellion (XR), and people with Climate views focussed purely against the aviation Industry.
In our own recent petition, for which we received over 3,000 local signatures. We showed that 95% of people who live within the Airports catchment area are fully supportive of LBA’s planning application.

The Northern Powerhouse Partnership recently polled adults across West Yorkshire region, its poll showed that over 51% of people supported the New Terminal whilst only 17% opposed it.

We are fully aware of climate change and can see that the aviation industry is starting to make sustainable changes.
LBA’s new Terminal development will be BREEAM excellent rated, only the 2nd UK airport to be so after Heathrow’s Terminal 5, it will also be fully Carbon Neutral. When the planning application was submitted in January 2020 The airport committed to reduce Carbon Emissions by 45%, by 2023 and be a fully compliant Net zero airport by 2030.
It's was those guarantees and the section 106 agreements that have been put place as to why Leeds City Council's 'city plans panel' members voted 9 to 5 in favour to approve these plans just over 2 months ago on March 11th, the application was then sent over to the Secretary of State for consultation

Understandably the minister needs more time to make his decision, so it is vital that we continue to demonstrate the level of support locally for this scheme and that it is allowed to proceed.

Think you’ll find the vast majority of meat is transported by sea, either on board in refrigerated containers or in the refrigerated holds of specially designed ships. Given the weights and bulk involved transport by air would be prohibitively expensive and logistically impossible on a large scale. The sailing time from Australia/New Zealand to the U.K. is around 6 weeks and beef in commercial cold storage can be kept for 12 months.

I agree, we don’t want a slanging match between the opposition. Of course they’re entitled to their views even though a lot of it is nonsense. But that one they came out with yesterday needed a response, because there’s definitely no way that over 50,000 people who live locally signed that. It’s clearly been done nationally and only people who are local and signed that petition should count not ones that live in London or no where near LBA. And hopefully RJ sees that it’s been done nationally and isn’t fair. And all other polls and petitions that have been done such as the Northern Powerhouse one have all been local. Galbas haven’t.

But once again a great effort that went into the statement and is appreciated by me and a lot of other members.

LBAs new planned terminal just had a mention on look north, apparently pudsey mp stuart andrew says the new terminal and the changes to flying hrs should be two seperate issues and not one proposal, just what planet are these lot on, do they ever look in detail at the plans and realise that for a company to invest 150million in new airport infrastructure they require maximum flying operation! Unbelievable!!
