Just been watching the erstwhile Mr Jenrick getting a grilling from Charlie Stayt on the Beeb about slow progress with re-cladding. I guess he has better things to do at present.

I agree Heather. If he rejects the LBA plans then he will have a lot of explaining to do. I wouldn’t understand how he can Justify allowing Southampton’s plans going ahead without intervening and STN expansion plans going ahead, and rejecting LBAs plans which isn’t about expansion and the plans include a modern environmentally friendly terminal.

I guess we will have to wait and see as a decision would be nice some point in our lifetime.
Ive sort of list my thread on this so excuse me when I ask "when we are expecting the SoS to make his decision on LBA?"

Sadly I’m unsure when SOS will make his decision. Hopefully it won’t be to much longer as he’s had about 2 months since he needed more time to make his decision.

Yeah I believe so. I heard at the time when he needed more time that a decision would hopefully come by May/June.

Let's hope he's too busy to bother with it and it remains at the bottom if his in-tray until after the deadline is past. Seems to have happened at SOU although their deadline was much shorter than ours for reasons unknown to me.

Sorry, I don't know if there is one really, as I read that he could delay it indefinitely if he chose to do so. LBA expected a decision by the end of May but that's been and gone.

Surely there has to be a decision deadline.

If LCC haven't set that line in the sand then just shows the incompetence of the council of a large city in the North. Not that we need to show the incompetence.

Do you think he will be bright enough to make the right decision or be like what he is on tv?

The S of S who handle the runway extension took over two years not to make the decision, then passed it back to LCC who passed it through on the nod.

The G7 I believe is in November. I have wondered the same thing if he would wait until then. But then I have that fear if he does that he might reject as he’s probably been told that airports are the biggest enemy to the planet. (Even though they’re not) by those tree suckers. My fear is the earlier commitments to becoming net zero might result in him rejecting it on climate grounds. I sincerely hope that is not the case and he sees LBA is committed to making the environment better. Including better planes which are less noisier and less emissions.

At the end of the day. As frustrating as it is, we must wait until he makes a decision weather it be this month or after the G7. Everybody on this forum has supported the new terminal which I for one appreciate everybody’s commitments and efforts. Weather it be sending emails to him or letters or spreading the positivity on here and other social media’s. I’m hoping he will look at it from our side and see we are telling the true facts and not garbage about thousands more flights which is simply not the case. I’m still staying positive about this and have good hope he approves so Yorkshire can have its main airport and we can have something we are proud of in Leeds and Yorkshire (and Bradford)

@LBAYORKIE the posts above are some suggestions of when he could or might make a decision as it’s unknown what his intentions are of when he plans to make a decision.

The G7 I believe is in November

The G7 Summit is this month, 11-13th June, being held in Cornwall.

November is when COP26 will be held (United Nations Climate Change Conference) and that is in Glasgow.

If the government is planning on delaying these decisions until after those events, then I imagine they'd want to leave a significant amount of time as to distance themselves from the events. Holding the Conference on Climate Change one week and then approving an airport expansion the next wouldn't go down well in the governments eyes.

My bet is on them either announcing a decision against at one of the events to "show their commitment to fighting climate change", or announcing a decision in favour when the pandemic is "over" as part of a "levelling up" agenda.

Honestly wouldn't surprise me if a decision is yet to be made a year from now - or rather an announcement is yet to be made as I fully expect the decision has already been made and they're waiting for the right opportunity to announce it.

You’re right. I got mixed up with them. But I meant COP26 in the post above.

If this gets called in or is refused it will be nothing short of scandalous and will just continue to prove the North-South divide continues to exist after recent STN and SOU approvals. RJ just needs to get this approved and to stop f******g around
So Stansted can expand by 15m passengers annually. Southampton can extend its runway allowing larger aircraft, but for now at least LBA might as well be on another planet. The North South devide is clearly rife. Where is the levelling up we were promised. Once again, Leeds is being left behind.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
