Road bumps everywhere in Leeds doesn’t help as someone who drives it’s a nightmare. And flying from LBA I will be driving as public transport is non existent (almost)
Regarding the road bumps tell me about it!! Criminal damage i say and they actually create more pollution with the braking if required on approach then acceleration.

Which LBA management recognise and want to replace with asphalt, at huge cost, which they will generate from the extra passenger throughput via the new terminal.

Oh wait,...............

I totally agree with you @White Heather on this one, As I even remember the previous CEO mentioned this to us last year that the runway resurfacing was in the future plans if the terminal development is given the go ahead. Along with a few other things that we know of.

I suspect a small minority protesting will be genuine and committed climate change activists, a much larger proportion will be NIMBYs whilst the rest will be there just because it’s a protest. Oh and don’t forget to bring your musical instrument with you. :ROFLMAO:

What ignorance. Without the wealth, tax collection from airlines, employees, and then the supply chain, the money will not be available for the health care. Makes me laugh.

Two positive comments have been left so far. Barry Wheatpeas has left 'the usual'
Oh him. He must have a sad life. It’s best to just ignore his arsey comments and only like the supportive ones. (Which I’m sure you already do :) )

Some good points you make. Yet those clowns don’t acknowledge that.

Reminds me of the civil servants I used to work with.

One (not very bright!) made a fantastic statement "we're civil servants, we don't pay tax". Colleague and I looked at each other then headed out of office in different directions. She'd gone home by time we returned, still finding it difficult to control ourselves!

The Civil Servants I worked with complained they were paying too much tax. As I always said, you have to earn it to pay it, so stop complaining.

I can't even bring myself to read the article in the Wharfedale Observer. I don't want to descend into a bad mood, and it's guaranteed if I read the garbage coming from the protestors. I managed not to see the reports on TV but copped for one interview on Radio Leeds and even that ruined my day.

I’d love to see the travel records of the Galba people. I hope they have seaweed bags, or net bags for when they are lugging their weekly shop from Morrison’s - of course walking or cycling! And of course they will be walking and cycling to their eco Holidays in their hessian yurt. Of course none of them will have ever been on a stag or hen do to Torremolinos.....not! I bet if someone got access to the average Galba persons records, they’ll be having a week in the sun- flying! and driving a 2 litre gas guzzler and consuming goods like billy-oh. These muppets are total fake arse and need calling out.

The UK will be hosting this years COP26 (2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference), don't expect any news or movement until it finishes in November, i expect a lot of buzzwords and list of "green actions", but i don't expect the government will even look at the airport plans till late 2022.

It's embarrassing for Leeds when so many people are repeatedly saying things like this at a time when other airports continue to push forward with their developments, and developments which dwarf LBA in its entiraty.

It's just as it was in the 70s. Whilst MAN, NCL, LPL and others all invested and grew, LBAs plans for a runway extension to enable jet movements were thrown out by the then Environment Minister, Peter Walker, and even to this day, LBA is playing catch up. And now, it seems that the Government don't want LBA to catch up any further.

What is it about Yorkshire and Leeds in particular that makes successive Governments hold back progress? Perhaps they think Yorkshire would be a bit too powerful if it were allowed to have the infrastructure it deserves, and that would never do would it?

This government aren't bothered about this side of the Pennines. They are only bothered about Manchester. Now lets see...which leg of HS2 is getting canned???...that's right, the Eastern leg. I rest my case.

It's almost like they don't like the fact that Leeds is the largest legal and financial centre outside of London. They don't want Yorkshire to succeed economically as they are scared of having the north as the true super power of the country and not London anymore.

Manchester has succeeded for many years under Sir Richard Lease, councillor, who was a leader of the council from 1996 having been a councillor since 1984. That is 37 years working for his city 25 of those as the leader. With a stable constant leadership he was able to share and push his vision of a better Manchester and make it what it is today. All the while we have had a council leader who just wanted cycle lanes everywhere and allowed our city and therefore region (let's be honest Leeds is the true super power in Yorkshire) to not thrive as it should. Some comments on twitter are happy that he's stepping down etc. But for me it's a great loss for the City that today has been voted 3rd best to live in in the world, above Birmingham and London.

If you could be a career councillor like Richard Lease, I would do it in a heartbeat tomorrow. I know the challenges we face, I know what I/we want. But sadly I have to appease the nimby lot, the GALBA and ER tw**ts and I cannot be one to be politically correct. I call a spade a spade.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
