Complete terminal redevelopment and extension, new rail station, tui and hopefully wizz base in prep for 7million pax per year. Ok its not a brand new shiny terminal but onwards and upwards. Hope it happens.

When people got excited at Wizz I was thinking more a replication of what they did at Doncaster at LBA. Definitely cannot accommodate them for a base at present time.

It wasn't a base st DSA so it wont be a base here or anywhere else they might transfer to. Wizz operate year round too, so will need to be operational from wherever it might be from November. Setting up a base takes longer than that and as has been stated, LBA is currently at capacity in summer as far as based aircraft are concerned.

Thank you @White Heather for that info. But it was more responding to this:

As I've stated and you also have - it was a replication that I thought we are getting. Maybe.

Thank you @White Heather. I will say however this ULCC carriers can be set up and running with bases in no time at all. It just depends on the aircraft availability within fleet and any plans they have. Swissport and other airport facilities wont require much more additional staffing, it'll be moving pilots/cabin crew or recruiting them and getting them airside passes which would be the issue.

Yes I agree, it would, and that's what takes the time.

Swissport can't cope with what we have now halfl the time, so until they are fully staffed, dealing with more aircraft will be a challenge, and based aircraft even more so. Also, unless crews are already living in the area, the airline needs to sort out contracts with hotels for overnighting crews, and that's not always possible at short notice.

I'm sure DSA Swissport staff will be offered alternative work at LBA/EMA etc. I know when Monarch announced a base at LBA, many MAN based staff who live in the area was the first to jump to the new base, I'm sure with TUI it would be a similar situation.

I would have relied on yourself @White Heather for this answer. I'm with you on this point - I assume not.

Certainly a question to bring up at the next meeting.
I would have thought not and don't recall them applying last time they extended the stands - it's the dastardly green belt that made me have some niggling doubts.

If it is classed a within there boundary, I would have thought it would be as per Network Rail. ie the the work could be done without planning permission. May be wrong ,but to me that is logical; !!!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
