Realignment of the ILS and touchdown zones moved more towards start of runway ( going to hide now from forum members haha)
Certainly something I feel the airport could look into from a safer operations point of view.

Would love this - but the council will kick off. Moving the threshold for 32 will also lower the height of the aircraft on approach. We all know the anti airport MP's, Councillors, and freaks who move into the area but hate the airport, would protest something rotten.

I don't think this is out of the question. Its something the airport might look at doing in the future but I don't see it happening anytime soon and as I've mentioned in another post, starter extensions are more doable as they provide additional paved area potentially at both ends of the runway without the need to alter the touchdown zones which would most likely require significant planning consent.

Ive just dropped a hire car off at an overseas airport and it reminded me of the convenience of having a petrol station close by.

Has there been any update on the petrol station that was planned for Warren House Lane?

Yes when you return a hire car usually one of the conditions is that it must be returned with a full tank of fuel and that the petrol station is no more than a few miles away or else your charged!
So a petrol station near by would be useful and obviously would receive plenty of business from folk returning hire cars.

Yes, good question about a future Petrol Station. It must be frustrating for people not familiar with Yeadon and not knowing where the nearest fuel station is .
I remember a few years ago returning a hired car and finding out there was no petrol station at the airport. We travelled miles to find one without success!
Also -any updates regarding a future hotel at the airport? A Holiday Inn Express would be great!

From memory two separate planning applications were submitted to LCC for petrol stations. One next to the roundabout and the other close to HeliJet. It would appear that both applications were either rejected or cancelled.
Given the impending demise, now delayed, hopefully permanently, of petrol & diesel powered cars, I doubt there'll be too many companies wanting to take on new filling station leases, because as Government Policy stands, sales are going to diminish over the next 10 years and as they do, the price of petrol will probably increase, leading to further reductions in sales.

After 2035 every hire car will be electric so it will be interesting to see if hire companies decree that cars must be returned with a full charge!

Either way, now probably isn't the time to build new filling stations. The hire car companies should, as a matter of courtesy, provide customers with a map showing the nearest filling stations to LBA, of which there are several. Rawdon Sainsbury's , Pool Bridge, Lawnswood, Adel and Guiseley. And, the in the future, the nearest charging station and which App you have to have to use them!!!

On Nov 1st I rented a Seat Arona automatic from SIXT at Faro airport…the woman tried her best to sell me a full tank of fuel (unleaded) at €110 saying then I can bring it back empty and not have to worry about filling it back up on returning it and it was the same price as the garage, anyway I know these are the 1L engine so pretty good on fuel, halfway through the holiday the fuel light came on but the dash said 60kms to empty, ran it another day or so and it went right down to 9kms remaining, took it to the local Intermarche supermarket (Asda prices) and filled it to the brim for €78.20….robbing sods.

On the subject of car hire anyone wanting to hire a car in the alicante region check out EDI car hire, el campello. Good value and the price you see is the total you pay, they actually drive the car to you and meet you in person in the multistory car park at ALC airport, when you return the car all they ask is that you return it with a full tank of fuel and just leave it with keys inside in one of the designated spots!
There so much better than the big companies who try to take big deposits, add extras on and generally rip folk off!
Im aware one or two on F4A that fly to ALC so thought id mention this car hire co.

We’ve used click rent the last 5-6 times. A minibus collects you from the ground level coach parking area and takes you just past the old terminal and control tower to their large car compound.

New cars, clean, full to full, no pressure of added extra’s insurance etc. 5 mins and you’re on your way.

On return it’s just as easy and they don’t scour the car looking for the slightest imperfection just check for wear and tear and make sure the gas tank is brimmed.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
