I spent the day at Waterside (BA HQ) a few months back and it came into conversation about a LHR link. It wasn't that it wouldn't specifically work for them but more that they can utilise their aircraft/slots better on another routes that provide better for them economically. Though they are now going through big changes, who's to say things wont on the LBA front.

Hope you enjoyed your time here, certainly a very nice. well planned building that looks more like a shopping centre!

Hope its not too big and expensive ! I need birdseed to pay my pension when I retire in September.
Back on topic I hope they do commence this service as it opens up all there long haul services to me again as getting to Heathrow with your cases from Leeds is either very expensive or inconvenient.

[warning]Polite Reminder
Rumours about new destinations or airlines?

A rumour about a new airline or route is of course just that until such time as it is formally announced by the usual channels such as through an airport or airline press release.

Feel free to continue speculating...[/warning]

Of course we would all love to see British Airways at Leeds operating flights to London Heathrow but come on, does anybody honestly think that will happen? What if the rumours about the arrival of BA is far off the mark or even a decoy for another announcement? :s_dunno

It would have to be a bit special to upstage a 3 times daily Ba service to Heathrow. Cheeky of you to wet our apetites. What do you know then ? or when can you spill the beans ?

I wish I did but it was purely a question.

Something happening on Tuesday. Announcement by an airline - more than 1 route to be announced.

Do spill the beans LS16, What can you tell us? As you've started something now..

It makes me wonder if this announcement will have anything to do with Thomas Cook who are to launch there summer 2013 programme over the next week or so. Plus they now know what the competition Thomson's are up to??

Jet2; With their 4th based 757 judging by the times they gave for the BJV extra flight on a monday.
New routes; Kos(possible as it's done from MAN), Zante(a solid performer for TCX), FUE(thinking about it they can attract a different crowd from the FR type of pax) Maybe back at Egypt too. Increase of capacity on the routes to Spain & Portugal.

Ryanair; 4th based 737 with 3rd utalized throughout the winter period, with not seasonal routes but perms. So eastern europe.

Thomas Cook; 2nd based A320 to help them gain back the pax lost, thanks to retreating over the hill/back to one hub for ONE region (MAN for the north). That would certainly give you more then 1 route. Plus winter expansion

Easyjet; Another winter route? Or two?

Monarch; Putting Fri, Sat & Sun to use and keeping the a/c at leeds to Canaries/Spain & Portugal. If success then expansion for S14 and winter.

All possibles, but the probables are Jet2, Thomas Cook and Ryanair. I don't see why they'd decrease the Jet2 757 utilization and use it for daytime rotations. Also it's a tuesday. Quiet day, they won't use 2 757 so possible photo op there. Hmmm can't wait more expansion for LBIA, hopefully all very good news.

Monarch have also announced that their announcing new routes on tuesday, not directly related to LBA but hopefully..

If it is to be monarch do they have the aircraft available to keep the aircraft at Leeds all week though? They'd have to be reducing services somewhere to be keeping it a Leeds all week surely??

(Someone mentioned it split between lba and cork or some Irish airport)

I can't see it being Monarch unless they're announcing what aircraft they'll be basing next year. It'll probably be from Ryanair with either new routes for the winter or a fourth based aircraft for next year, or Thomas Cook announcing next years routes.

Monarch new routes now on cosmos site.

Grenoble 3 weekly, Munich 2 weekly from October

You should be secret agent007 as opposed to user001

I get the impression there's more to come for summer 2013.

I wish Aviador, defiantly got more of a ring to it lol.

Good news for LBA anyway. These look like winter routes mainly, so I guess testing the water for new routes in summer 2013

Not normally one for spurious rumours but just found this on another forum for aimed a the business travelling community;

'I was told during the week from a reliable source that LBA is on a very short list of a Gulf carrier and an announcement is expected soon.'

Any one got additional information regarding the potential airlines looking at LBA?

Also, an Interesting argument currently on-going within said business traveller forum about the sustainability of the BA LHR route, with a lot of naysayers and pessimistic opinions. Shame that people are dissing it even before it's being properly announced or publicised. Apologies for going off topic.

That's an intersting comment you make there. If this is true then another new airline and a another long haul haul route coming to the airport is great to see. I wonder how PIA would react to this.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
