Based on this article, it is just as dangerous to visit France or Northern Ireland at the moment. Britain constantly carries out terror raids. As does Germany. And Belgium. And the Netherlands etc etc etc. Occasionally, they slip through the net. The difference in Egypt was that groups have been able to take advantage of ambiguity caused by numerous coups. The situation is more settled now and I fully expect Egypt to regain complete control in time. That does not mean that there will not be occasional issues.

I'm starting to miss your point now Tarn Spotter. You claimed that as a shareholder you were concerned about restarting flights to the region from a commercial point of view, not a physical risk point of view, yet you are only quoting the physical risk and nothing financially. If I were to talk about the financial risk, I would be far more interested in talking about the anti government protest in Egypt in 2011. This ruined travel companies in Eastern Europe and Russia because Egypt was their major destination. The British companies quickly scaled right back with no real revenue issues, mainly because the majority of the business is for other parts of the Mediterranean such as Spain/Turkey. A large proportion of tourists heading for Egypt were able to change their itineraries for other destinations. The possibility of a large scale evacuation of Egypt is incredibly unlikely. That seemed to be your main cause of concern when stating your objections. So I am very confused.

I think it is far more damaging to the share price to scaremonger. After all, share price is linked intrinsically to shareholder confidence. A company that deals with a crisis situation in a proper and positive manner can end up seeing an increase in share price. For example, M&S posted a large decline in online sales in Q3 2014/15 but saw a rise in share price because the cost and restructuring satisfied the city and the shareholders. In stark contrast, Tesco downgraded their profit forecast and saw a massive drop in share price because it turned out someone had done some creative accounting. If there is an sudden escalation of violence in Egypt, providing Dart Group do and say the right things, it will enhance their reputation rather than dent it.

Looks like LBA has missed out on Vueling as they have just announced a x4 weekly BCN service to MAN

How do you know LBA was even in the running?

Also did we really need another operator on the Barcelona route? As we have Jet2 up to 5x weekly and Monarch up to 4x weekly a peak summer.

How do you know LBA was in the running!

It was because Leeds was appearing in several sections of the Vueling website but then removed. It was documented at the time on this forum.

Sorry to sound off, but, do LBA have to declare they were after Vueling? Airline discussions go on behind closed doors, so, who knows what meetings took place.

One thing you can't argue, there was obviously intent to do something, as I doubt the Vueling IT guys in Barcelona decided to just add LBA to the timetable page, booking engine and make up a destination guide page purely because they had nothing better to do....

Vueling don't just offer flights to BCN..

CWL have BCN, PMI & ALC..

I'm sure every UK airport is after Vueling..

Absolutely correct.....

As with any business , hunting and developing new customers is an integral part of survival , thats the easy bit.

What really confuses me is why there is a post that really has no substance or evidence relating to a new relationship with Vueling or LBA ?

A new service for Manchester is good.

Did LBIA bid for a route with them previously ?

Well the Vueling rumour was posted on THIS thread a couple of months ago, regards to LBA appearing on their website..

As suggested by user001

'I doubt the Vueling IT guys in Barcelona decided to just add LBA to the timetable page, booking engine and make up a destination guide page purely because they had nothing better to do....'

so I thought it would be appropriate to post on here that it looks like LBA has lost the route to end the rumour..

pardon me for breathing.. jesus.

It's all gone rather quiet on the new routes rumours I would have though LBA would have attracted at least 1 new airline for the beginning of the summer season

It's not looking like we have anything new, it's a bit late now to announce anything new for spring/summer. I thought that 2014 was the year of consolidation, which it was, and 2015 was going to be the year of growth...according to past airport statements

To be honest it just seems like that everything is going over the hill to Manchester once again. It really does remind me of the Mid to late 90's before Jet2 appeared and the growth years happened at Leeds/Bradford.

I suppose the Intersky's programme of charter flights to Friedrichshafen for Omega Holidays can be counted as New!

Well I guess if you have the facilities you attract the airlines like MAN does and if you have pretty rubbish ones like LBA does then you get next to nothing

Lets not forget that we have got Stobart Air working through Summer that we did not have this year, and 3 on a Friday to boot. Then there are all the extra FlyBe flights. Still a good programme by my reckoning.

Manchester is forging ahead now and is making massive inroads into our market place and potential for growth. I would not be surprised if the figures for Yorkshire based passengers travelling over the hill increase by a large percentage this year. Lets hope we can still grow a little too, even though the battle and probably the war to stop the migration of passengers to Manchester is over. It would also seem Robin Hood is on the up again with more flights and better passenger numbers.

Checked out some pricing for flights to Malaga for New Year. Manchester pricing via Monarch significantly lower. Other factors like the hike in the drop-off charge and the lottery over the winter weather just keep chipping away at the benefits of LBA over Manchester. I see consolidation as being a good result with a serious risk in decline in passenger numbers being more likely than significant growth.

Increased passenger numbers at DSA are directly attributal to a small increase in services....There just aren't enough of them unless you travel to eastern Europe or want a leisure flight!

From another forum, mention that Aurigny has today announced that it has applied to operate Guernsey - LBA. No details as to likely frequency or start date. One line in article on Guernsey Press website mentions this, so may be some substance!

It would be a nice addition to the routes from LBA. Guernsey hasn't been served properly from LBA for a few years. I seem to recall Air UK operating Saturday and Sunday flights to the island back in the late 80's early 90's. Somebody with an old flight schedule maybe able to confirm that?

Aurigny Air Service would be another great airline to add to the growing list of operators here at LBA. If this is true I know for sure that forum member "Bigman" will be way happy. As he has been shouting out for a Leeds/Bradford - Guernsey service.

Now been reported on the other forum that it's a year round service that is been proposed. Flights will be operating between 3x and 7x times a weekly depending on the time of year using ATR42 aircraft.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
