It would never get the green stamp of approval in this day and age. Plus the UK gov are far more interested in expanding Heathrow.
I don’t even think it was ever proposed as an island though. It was either one side of the Severn or the other i believe. But it's something that just won't ever happen.

I doubt they will but I'm surprised LeedsBradford owners haven't challenged it. But for Cardiff it might be something the Welsh government can point to as an example.

Small airports being less busy tend to be a less stressful environment. Definitely a noticeable difference between checking in at Schiphol last week and LeedsBradford! After reading the comments on that article, clearly the two people commenting should be given jobs at the airport because they seem to know it all.

Interesting choice, particularly as there’s no airport experience. Looking at his Linked In, I couldn’t see what the transport experience was in. I would think a lot of his skills are transferable when it comes to negotiating, building rapport with airlines, and generally managing a large organisation.Cardiff Airport has appointed a new CEO. Jon Bridges ex head of Brains brewery. No aviation experience but experience in hospitality and transport. Will be interesting to see where he takes the airport.

Yes that's true. In a way it's unfortunate that previous CWL management didn't focus on non passenger revenue sooner.
Thanks for that. Looks like there’s plenty of winter expansion possibilities with TUI given they will have an aircraft sat around for half the day (some days)
Remember though that's how they operate in the winter so I can't see them adding much more in the future. Only real hope for future winter expansion now is Ryanair.
