Isn't self handling an option for them. It seems to have worked rather successfully for Jet2?

DHL are still ground handler for U2 at Manchester. Catering is now done by Dnata UK wide for them so that is probably why they saw Dnata staff.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it was odd that all of a sudden Dnata were servicing Easyjet!
But yes, have noticed the Dnata catering trucks attached to Easy and Jet2 aircraft recently.

Plenty of remote stands at T2 and the western apron...no doubt to be used more when work on the next pier starts...

I hate to say it but is, at present, par fir the course with TUI. It's such a shame that they appear to be constantly let down by Swissport who are, themselves, struggling with a lack of staff.

I believe there can be only a number of handlers at airport. Self handling counts as ground handling. This is set by the CAA. And I believe jet2 had to wait for one to go bust, or more or less was about to, before declaring they’d go self handling and transfer all positions over to them. Saving jobs and letting the ground handling company go.

The limit is set by CAA. Campaign against aviation strikes again.

It seems we are heading the way towards self handling however in some guise. DHL with easyJet, Jet2 by Jet2, Emirates are Dnata (all owned by Dubai). Ryanair by Blue handling.

Swissport have let airlines down, assisted by the government and the chancellor/transport secretary.

I want TUI to go full self handling at big stations. EDIT: @Aviador I believe they have TUI employed people at Manchester as operations controllers etc looking after the day to day TUI operation but they have to put all faith into Swissport. I do want to, as awful as this sounds, see Swissport fail at the large stations. They are a shocking handling company.

I noticed baggage handlers in Blue Handling uniform when I was at T3 last week and wondered if Ryanair were bringing it in house…

Easyjet being handled by Dnata now

Dnata have huge catering contracts. Taking over most catering services at almost most of not all airports U.K.
Formally I believe Alpha catering based on my local LBA knowledge.

A turn around is not just managed by one provider but many. This includes other ground handling company’s which may provide additional services - DNATA as the example.

For catering only...I believe the actual ground ops are still DHL...
Speaking from what I saw, all the ground ops vehicles, round the aircraft, were in Dnata markings, the catering truck that pulled up at the rear as we were disembarking was also from that company and the baggage handlers had that company`s work clothing as well...You may well be right but I didnt see anything DHL at all at that time.

Hi all

A quick update on how a couple new routes are performing for you as follows

Sunday Gulf Air in 245 no outbound available that day.

Sunday Kuwait with the A330-200 is 136 into Manc and 156 outbound.

Today Tuesday.

Gulf Air in was 242 in and 261 out to Bahrain. Very good I'd say.

Cheers from Bilko.

Afternoon all

As the Gulf Air is a destination I've got today's and last Sundays pax figures and impressive they are too!!

Sunday in 276 out 276

Today in 282 out 269.

I would say there is potential for an extra day soon.

Cheers from Bilko.

Great figures Bilko. With, according to planespotters.net, a configuration of 282 those are not great numbers, they are fantastic.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
