A watch this space regarding T1...
"the work we’ve done in and around Terminal 2 gives us the capacity we need to grow from 32m passengers a year today, up to 40m by 2030 and then beyond that up towards 50m in the years that follow.

I think there’s a world where a Terminal 1 will have a role to play as we go beyond that – but that will be a big project and it’s very much something for the future."

Ultimate target not 50 million passengers...

"We think those runways can handle around 60m passengers per year – that’s almost double where we are now. The new infrastructure we’ve built in terms of Terminal 2 and the work we’ve done on the airfield now gives us room to grow into that capacity up towards 50m passengers per year.

So you’ll note that there’s still a bit more runway capacity to grow into once we’ve reached the capacity of our current terminals – and unlocking that will be a project for the future"

5 year target is 40 million...

"I'm definitely looking to get to 40 million passengers per year over the next five years and there are several routes, like Riyadh and Tokyo that I'd like to add to our departure board over that period too. Equally, North America, South America and Africa are all places where we could expand our footprint."

Well done to the operational teams at MAN in this cold and icy weather 👏
I was watching a live stream earlier and both runways have been operational since first departures.

In the meantime, it’s awfully quiet over on the other forums concerning the closure of another north west airport…!
Imagine the stick MAN would get for any closure!

Any moves to replace Are Lingus weekly JFK or Orlando flights? Shame Norse is so stretched. I'd say Virgin would take up the slack but the Orlando flights always seem to to be full. I guess New York intending passengers will end up on one of the 30 or so LHR flights to JFK/EWR or via DUB.

11 more years before there's a fast link to Liverpool using the railway https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...-news/after-15-years-manchester-rail-33225032

"What we are left with includes Manchester Airport becoming the most connected airport outside London with high speed. Better connections from Liverpool to Manchester and on to Leeds and Hull could also help create even more economic growth than the vital Oxford to Cambridge link currently being constructed."

An Etihad 787-10 came in on Saturday morning, the return flight cancelled and then it parked on a remote (think stand 116?). Has this since departed?

Just thinking out aloud so to speak but is the possibility of somewhere like Istanbul being used by Qatar and Emirates for limited ops that would otherwise be transiting?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
