I believe it is.Does anyone know if this will be the first ever red route in Leeds? Don’t ever recall seeing any others on my travels.
The things folk will do to avoid paying £3! What is the point in dropping off where you live? The free drop off zone is much closer and probably still will be after they move it - and there will be a free bus to the terminal too. They will probably start dropping off and picking up on the south side area or my street even more now.
We have to keep reporting dumped cars on our street despite the notices pointing out no airport parking allowed.
Culvert repair works to be carried out on A658 Pool Bank New Road
A project to carry out essential works to repair a culvert under the A658 Pool Bank New Road in Leeds is to begin next month.
The work managed by Leeds City Council will begin on Tuesday 8 May, and will focus on a stretch of the A658 north-east of the Dyneley Arms junction between the A660 Leeds Road and Pool-in-Wharfedale.
The repair has been identified as being necessary as part of the council’s ongoing assessment of all bridges and culverts in the city. This culvert, which was originally built around 100 years ago, enables a natural stream watercourse to flow through it under the road carrying water from surrounding areas. It is now in need of repair and strengthening work, which will be carried out through the use of piling and the addition of reinforced concrete to increase its durability and make it more resilient to flooding events.
Project length
The project is expected to take 10 weeks to complete, with the road remaining open to all users throughout but with a single lane restriction in place, a reduced 30-miles per hour speed limit and temporary traffic signals in operation. In order to minimise the length of the project, work is to be undertaken seven days a week when possible.
Local residents impacted by the works have been contacted by the council with details, while local councillors have also been made aware. As the road is well used by those travelling to and from Leeds Bradford Airport, motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys or seek to use alternative routes where possible. Both the airport and Jet2.com have also been made aware and will include messaging about the works being given to passengers before they travel. Taxi companies, bus operators and local off-site airport parking services are also being informed.

If you have any queries please email [email protected]
1. Is the road going to be built or is it, at this stage at least, just a piece of wishful thinking?
2. How would this road fit in with the proposed link road and, for that matter, when are we due to hear about which route will be chosen?
3. Are there any proposed time scales for building these roads or will they be so far in the distance that I will have given up flying due to the effects of old age and so be of no benefit to oldies like me? I suspect, as with all projects of this nature, the latter but live in hope!
The council have completed the required period of time following publication of the proposed red route and the airport stated they are now waiting for the report from Leeds City Council and details of when the current double yellows will become double red. Originally, the schedule was to carry out the work this month, so I am not sure if it has slipped or not, but it will almost certainly happen in the near future.Question for White Heather or anyone else who might know, was there any update at the meeting regarding the Double red line painting on the roads around the airport?
