So will we see these distributed to the carriers that bid/put in for these and which airlines do we think? I would imagine most of the fleet/destination plans for 2018 have been nearly finalised.

The plans have been 'finalised' but there were a few different plans, and based on many factors, decided which plan to go for.

In the case of Easyjet, a lot of things happened within a few weeks, so, they haven't finalised anything yet. There will be a lot of shuffling about,

I guess so, but overall, TCX, TUI and Jet2 the 'big 3' have got most of the plans in the final planning stage. Especially when it comes to fleet planning and fleet growth.

It's not those 3 really after the Monarch slots. They will continue to grow via the normal means.

There are 3 other airlines in particular aiming for the Monarch slots....

Easy and Norwegian very likely. Less sure about RYR as overall I thought they were cutting back the number of flights for s18 due the crewing situation. There also remains the problem of T3 capacity.

On the other hand, if it's not RYR, what are the other possibilities? Flybe and BA seem unlikely, as do Vueling.
Aren't Wizz also cutting back next summer?

Could it be Wizz? I know they have established operations in Doncaster and Liverpool, but I'm sure they would do very well in Manchester, potentially filling holes such as Warsaw (WAW), Bucharest etc.? They also held a pilot recruiting conference at Manchester Airport's Clayton Hotels couple of weeks ago. They were also interested in Monarch, setting up a UK AOC, and am told they have 'some exciting plans afoot'.

Dobbo, the BBC report includes this:

"The administrators want to appeal and have asked the judges to "stay" their order until they learn whether they have been successful"

Can the judges refuse an appeal then or do the administrators have the right to appeal anyway?

They might have a mechanism for doing so, but I cannot think what that is. More likely it's sloppy reporting but time will tell.

Interestingly, despite the press noise about the importance of LGW slots, the only intervening party were MAG, on behalf of MAN...

Monarch Airlines administratior KPMG have been granted a Judicial Review by the High Court regarding the slot issue, so it might be a little longer wait until things are finally sorted out.

The review will fall flat on its face.

KPMG are arguing this case based on historics, but the case is quite clear cut:

-can the slots be held of the licence is suspended? No.
-are you going to realistically use these slots in 2018? No.

All other carriers have to forefit slots of they don't intend to use, KPMG on behalf of Monarch should be no different.

I'm confused. I thought the Judicial Review was what had already taken place with a decision that the slots go back into the pool. Are we talking about an appeal now or a different Court?

Sorry, I meant appeal.

However, MAN slots have been returned to ACL, they are not appealing the MAN slots. This is due to the MAG submission.

Hmmm - very strange.

It sounds like they are pursuing other avenues outside of JR. in any case, the MAN slots are back in the pool so hopefully there is a strong and diverse market for them.

Just had an interesting read. There is something on the UK Aviation site suggesting that the airline could re appear soon. Doubt it myself but you never know.
