As well as easyjet boosting flights this summer, one should mention thomsons contribution this summer coming too. Despite the loss of 2 x weekly enfidna this summer we are gaining more flights to Malaga Ibiza Tenerife lanzarote larnaca Rhodes and Corfu plus a new route to faro and Cape Verde plus at the moment we are holding onto one weekly sharm flight. I wonder if we could see more expansion from them when summer 17 is launched in the spring
im certain tom are only doing sharm from 3 airports in uk next summer.in theory that should keep pax numbers high with whats offered.

All very quiet on the route developments at the moment. I wonder what is happening with the new airline and lots in the pipeline. Surely this hasn't suddenly stopped due to the apd situation ??

If long haul was part of the pipeline then that might hold things up until the APD devolution question is settled. Maybe we shall get an answer to the APD issue in the Budget in just over two weeks' time which is what many commentators are suggesting.

freebird airlines will be operating a weekly Antalya service on behalf of thomson every Friday evening this summer

Haven't seen them at BRS for a few years. I take it the type will be the A320.

Incidentally, thinking of the remark made before Christmas that there were a lot of things in the pipeline at BRS, some may have come to pass with the increased bmi regional presence this summer and the increased number of Ryanair flights this summer too.

I am still intrigued about the "new airline " to be announced early in 2016 though.

Yes, I think a few of us are. Given that we are now nearly into April the timeline has slipped if whatever airline it is still intends operating from BRS.

I wouldn't know where to start when it comes to suggesting which airline it might be or perhaps might have been.

I don't think that Blue Islands' change of clothing to Flybe later this year would be classed as a new airline as BI's AOC will still be responsible for the route and it will still be their aircraft and crews, albeit painted and marketed as Flybe.

I know I go on about this like a stuck gramophone record (am I the only one here old enough to remember those?) but the spectre of APD devolution to Wales may remain a brake on real progress in the form of new airlines. Despite not being mentioned in the Budget the possibility (probability?) of APD devolution hasn't gone away and we will only know the situation (for the duration of this parliament anyway) when the revised Wales Bill becomes law later this year. Until then a limbo situation exists.

I find it interesting to read the arguments of those who believe that APD should be devolved to Wales. I'm not denigrating them and I think a barrister would be able to argue forcefully for either side's position.

I am old enough to remember the needle sticking. Our first gramophone player had to be wound up to play. We had some funny songs when it started to slow down.

Was it a horn gramophone or did that predate both of us? :oldman:

I can remember a wind-up gramophone when I was a kid. Not sure if it was ours or a relatives. We still have a stereogram that can still play records although it's now kept solely as a fairly stylish piece of furniture.

I think the horn gramophone predates both of us. We still have a stereogram but it is stored in the loft. Sorry to digress.

We are currently screening candidates for a reputable growing airline, who will shortly be based at three of the UK’s busiest airports, one of which being Birmingham. In 2015 over 6 million passengers on the continent flew with them.

The successful candidates will be based at Birmingham airport, predominantly working on services to Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean. Training will commence in July with work commencing mid autumn. Our client welcomes all levels of experience to apply.

The above advert is being discussed in the BHX Route Development & Rumours thread. There is speculation that the airline may be Jet2 although the wording of the advert doesn’t seem to apply to that airline.

It can be seen that the airline is seeking cabin crew personnel who will be based at three of the UK’s busiest airports, one of which will be BHX.

The reason why Jet2 has been mentioned is because there have been rumours that this airline is seeking to come further south in its UK operations and in recent weeks both BRS and CWL (and BHX) have been linked with these rumours.

In BRS’s case we were told before Christmas by a member of this forum who is usually well informed on BRS matters that an announcement about a new airline would be made early in the new year. The advert could be connected with that whether or not the airline is Jet 2.

The only thing that might put BRS out of the frame is whether it is considered one of the UK’s busiest airports, albeit these sorts of adverts can sometimes be imaginative in content.

All very quiet on here at the moment. Any rumours of new routes or airlines coming our way?

From what I have heard there are no new airlines or routes this year now following this years additions, next year could see some new routes and a new airline.

The APD devolution news might just get things moving a bit although I'm not suggesting anything much will happen this year other than perhaps announcements for next year.

I have to agree. It is far to late in the year to get anything major started at BRS for this year. However next year now APD has not been desolved I reckon we will see something.

Although not really a new destination but EZY are to start flying to Gran Canaria from October

Norwegian are operating a weekly TFS into CWL this summer for a tour operator (TUI), not for themselves. Could see them operating into BRS in the same way (as Jet2 do on some winter ski services) but I'm not so sure about Norwegian flying from BRS in their own right. I certainly hope you are right though.

I wonder what this supposed new airline would be. Wouldn't it be nice to see jet 2 setting up a base here. Have to admit I'm a bit envious of bhx this morning

Very good news for BHX indeed. They are having a terrific year, but whilst it offers more choice for BHX users and competition which may result in price wars, it's interesting to note that none of Jet2's destinations are new for the airport and at a quick glance I didn't think any of them would be new if they were launched at BRS.

On a different note, as someone said above, I would love for Norwegian to set up at BRS. I don't know what source the poster above has for thinking we might see Norwegian any time soon though.

Some expansion by Wizz would be welcome too.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
