Let's hope there's some more to come. Gaps where routes have been reduced haven't been filled plus I quite fancy some of the routes announced from Ltn and man. Rhodes , Stockholm and Granada would all do very well
I'm surprised that EZY don't do Munich and Milan from BRS but with those new routes it could suggest that they are looking towards the holiday market more and that any new routes will be of that type rather than city connections.
I suppose in the end it's down to the degree an airport is reliant on a single carrier. Yes BRS is reliant on EZY but they are a big airline and do seem committed to BRS and for BRS it may be better to be more reliant on them than Ryanair like Stansted is for example as Ryanair seem more fickle. I suppose the one good thing for CWL is that it doesn't completely rely on Flybe or Vueling though losing either would be a big blow and maybe more so Flybe than Vueling. Irony is i just been reading on the BHX thread about BHX having to many airlines and not having the relationship BRS does with EZY!Other airports are even more reliant on a single airline.
I just wonder if they are concerned they'll dilute traffic from BRS, MAN and LTN if they setup a substantial base there and BHX may not have given them the terms and conditions they want to base aircraft there.. I've always been surprised though that easyJet has ignored BHX,
I'm not so sure. BRS is a wealthy niche market and is less prone to being adversely affected by national/international economic fluctuations than many airport markets in the country. If in any future downturn for Easyjet they are compelled to reduce their footprint at any of their bases in the Uk do you think there is any doubt that they will retain LTN and MAN and sacrifice BRS.
This possibility must be keeping the bosses at BRS awake at night. All eggs in one basket nightmares.
It was around this time last year and it was expected to be announced in early 2016. The information came from conns757 who will know about such things at BRS if anyone does. Unfortunately, he no longer seems to visit Forums4Airports - he was last here on 22 July this year.I wonder what happened to the new airline that was at one point talked about ..
lots of thoughts with what you say and mind is working over time.MV
Sorry for not being active on this board for a while.
I told u before you can access me directly anytime if you need any information.
The airport went through the 7.5 mill pax today as i predicted over a year ago.
You have not captured all the growth for 2017 in your assumptions as we will push through 8 million easily next year.
The new airline will commence new scheduled services as highlighted before but there has been delays which are not in the public domain.
There are so many exciting developments in the pipeline but you should be patient . Lots of growth is being delivered from the encumber carriers and will take good old LulsgAte Bottom to the next level.
All the best . BRS
