The DfT and CAA reports are due to be announced on 12th March if PIA get a clean bill of health they are then able to restore services to the UK ie LHR/MAN/BHX presumably in that order.

I notice, per seanm1997, that PIA is leasing out two weekly LHR slots to Saudia for the summer season. Does this suggest that they do not expect flights to resume before the autumn?

Interesting. There's still clearly lots of demand though.

Odd that the Karachi increase is almost exclusively at the expense of Islamabad whereas all other city pairs listed show increases.

If every one of those passengers stopped using the likes of Emirates and Turkish and switched to a direct BHX-LHE flight, it might be enough to sustain 1 weekly 777.

But this assumes that everyone would be able or willing to travel on a flight which would only operate on one day of the week, which is just not going to happen. Travellers out of BHX already have at least five other flight options to the Middle East every day, from four different airlines.

I could maybe see an airline such as Airblue trying LHE-BHX with an A321LR a few years in the future. But it won’t be on PIA’s list of priorities. London and Manchester still don’t have direct flights to Karachi and Lahore and they have much greater demand.

Doubt, their currently having issues with engines and have one grounded, and the other is for international flights

I’ve actually read something about this, the majority is Emirates & Qatar with this route, however serene air made a commitment to serve this route using their A330s, not sure what’s happened or if it’s still happening

is the issue with Airblue related to the wider engine issues with the A321LR? I agree we don’t have any chance of seeing them here until they get those issues sorted and perhaps get some more A321LRs. Which will probably be several years away.

There are rumours that they’re hoping to use ordinary A321s to serve London and Manchester and they will have a fuel stop in Turkey but in that case they wouldn’t have any advantage over the likes of EK/QR.

As for Serene Air, as far as i know, all the Pakistani airlines are in the same boat as PIA with reliability and safety issues.

The use of normal a321 has been cancelled, they aren’t doing it no more. Even if they did your point is still valid. AP-BOE has engine issues, however that one has CFMI LEAP engines, but no engines available. Serene air I agree is on the same boat. However once Ban is lifted, we will definitely see their a330s here.

UK CAA has announced the ban will still be imposed against any Pakistani National airlines, this is due to a poor performance and maintenance incl safety records and employee satisfaction’s which disapproved the CAA to continue. Major disappointment for PIA.

so wonder if anyone on here will have an idea of any airlines that serve in the Middle East will increase their presence at bhx.

That's what they have been doing since 2020 when the ban was imposed. Todays announcement doesn't change anything, just a continuation of the status quo that all Pakistani traffic will continue to go through the middle east!

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
