Not sure this is just down to a problem with the 787s because a good number of those are US routes which are operated by 777s or A380s?

Good to see Qatar sponsoring the CBSO :)

Richard Oliver, Country Manager, UK & Ireland said: “We are proud to be the Official Airline Partner of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, known throughout the world for their excellence and professionalism. We look forward to not only welcoming the orchestra on board but being part of and supporting the important work that the CBSO undertakes in local schools.”

Hi there ray and all, having just read yesterday that qatar have now up to 29% stake on the I A G, board, with the situation at Heathrow like it is with almost 100% full, surely now with qatar on board, that resources used else where to reduce the capacity at Heathrow down from 100%, to a more manageable percentage, use the regional capacity to its effect, otherwise, it's going to come to a situation where they will have to close heathrow temporary and relocate or divert to avoid this situation, whether airlines liked it or not....Andyc

I don't think it will ever reach a point where Heathrow will close. Airlines like Qatar will just start using larger aircraft on each flight from LHR instead of pulling flights out of LHR and moving to the regions. Doing so would lose them money. LHR will always be the most lucrative market as airlines can consistently fill First class from there.

If anything I would think Qatar would push for a 24/7 operation at LHR especially if the 3rd runway is turned down.
To me that is the only way in which capacity can be increased.
This would mirror what happens in the Middle East where airports are 24/7
Poor Londoners

Inbound or what? Maybe larger aircraft? Perhaps a route testing flight to see if dualing two cities on one A380 or B777 may be more beneficial to both cities?

I really hope not, a route like Doha should be operated Non Stop. Something like this would make Emirates more popular in my opinion.

I suspect this may be a aircraft shortage issue!

A majority of ppl using BHX-DOH go to connect onto connecting flights. Why anyone would want to go BHX-MAD-DOH-XXX (adding 3-4 hours onto the journey) when you have a choice of 3x daily Emirates is beyond me.

Just one of those rare odd flights. Certainly wouldn't be impressed if I was one of those pax booked on that flight from either BHX or MAD, not very 5 star airline of them!!!

Okay, if the good souls of Madrid do not want a Birmingham stopover then why did I have to stopover at Bristol on the way to Monastir a while back? It served a purpose, it worked well and we all were satisfied.

I was suggesting the possibility that Qatar may be thinking of using a larger aircraft to serve two smaller markets in combination for assessment, nothing more. If one were in business, would one not be suitably inclined?

I think it's only outbound, meaning the good souls of Madrid won't have to endure a Birmingham stopover. :)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
